I loved interacting with the children, but I stayed only a week and the experience left something to be desired. As an educator, I missed support or initial guidance for the classes. The meals were insufficient for the value paid, since lunch was limited to only rice and beans. I felt uncomfortable with the insistence on tasks outside of what was agreed (fundraising) after my refusal. The children didn't even know my last day, reflecting a certain disregard by the institution, since other volunteers had farewell moments. I suggest real investment in the infrastructure and attention to the volunteers.
