This experience was truly one that changed my life in so many ways. I was given the incredible opportunity to make true connections with not only the children, but the kind and accommodating host family. What I loved about this experience was that I felt truly immersed and welcomed into their home and culture. There were so many special moments dancing, laughing, and singing. It was such a positive atmosphere to learn and grow. Teaching in the school was an experience I will never forget. The children were eager to learn and had open hearts to the volunteers. Thank you for everything ❤️

My experience at the school has been incredible. From day one, I felt welcomed and truly part of the family, even so far from home. I received so much support at school and learned a lot from both the teachers and my students. But what I will treasure most are the connections I made, the laughter, the little moments and all the memories I will take with me. The children, teachers and family have each left a little piece of themselves in my heart. I leave incredibly grateful for these unforgettable weeks and everything I have experienced. Asante, nakupenda na nitawakumisi sana sana sana. ❤️

The experience was really rewarding. I can't deny that was difficult at first because of cultural differences and the aerea outside of a tourist area, but it just takes a days to set up thanks to the host family that's very helpful and with the other volunteers I felt part of the team. The students are very enthusiastic about welcoming new volunteers, getting to know them and they're very engaged into the activities. I really recommend the experience to whom is willing to be part of the local community and give an important improvement to their the school

I had unforgettable moments in my volunteering and I highly recommend do it. If you want a genuinely local and lovely experiences, this is the place for you!
I stayed at Juma's house with his family, who welcomed me very well and made me feel at home. The students are amazing and kind. I also participated in kindergarten classes and loved it. Juma does an incredible and honest job, and I am honored to have been able to help the school and meet many special people. Juma, Francis, Inswaaf, Huzaifat, Habiba, Khaleed, Omar, Rizzy and Suleiman will live in my heart forever. I hope come back again

It was a good and giving experience. The children are very great full for you to be there and you have the possibility to experience a lot of fun things in your spare time. The host is kind and able to take you around the island ( make sure to bring enough cash if you want to do something every day). Overall a good experience and we meet a lot of new friends!

Grateful for the students and caring staff. I truly enjoyed meeting them all. The experience is best designed for teachers. As a photographer, I felt rushed with requests for immediate turnaround with little understanding about time needed for editing. Volunteers must be comfortable being direct, and while Juma is open to adjusting, there is a strong focus on reviews that can feel uncomfortable. Visits from financial donors felt performative while volunteers living and working in the space felt more overlooked.

Thank you for your honest feedback and for the time you shared with our students and team. We are truly sorry if you ever felt rushed with photo editing, as that was never our intention. We respect the creative process and understand it requires time. We also appreciate your perspective about reviews and donor visits, and will reflect on this to improve communication and balance. We valued your contribution and wish you all the best ahead ,God bless❤️

I had an amazing time with the children and met some wonderful locals. I will never forget this experience. I value honesty so I do have to mention that in my opinion the daily price was too high for the portion of food we received(one night we got rice by itself and a banana which is ridiculous).Juma offered to drive me as he said “at a lower price than taxi” only for me to find out later that he charged me for more. He also asked me to make a foundraiser which I did from my whole heart, but after a while it felt very pushed. He also charged me for 9 days even though I was only there for 8.

We are sorry if the food portions did not feel enough. We always encourage open communication & would have been happy to add more if this was shared during ur stay.about taxi, prices here are not fixed & can vary.We try to keep fair prices & are sorry for any misunderstanding.About the stay, our records show 8 days, not 9. Extra cash was given due to lack of small bills,& change was returned. If there was any mistake, please contact us & we will gladly review & refund if needed ❤️

My experience had its ups and downs, the kids are lovely, and working with them is fun! Juma is okay most of the time but i also felt uncomfortable often, if you pay he can drive you around the island, as its almost impossible to travel longer distances on your own. However I did not feel taken care of when i needed it, also when he drove me back to the airport i reminded myself that i forgot something from the house that was very important to me, i wanted to pay more so he can bring it for me, instead he just drove of without even saying goodbye and thats how my experience ended.

Thank you for your feedback, Zuzanna. We value honesty and wish to clarify we are a small, community based organization with limited resources, as noted on our Worldpackers profile.Free transport & mobile data are not included, though we provided both occasionally as goodwill gestures. Our focus is serving a low income community, and volunteers are expected to respect these limits. We appreciate your time with the children and wish you the best in your future travels
