Two weeks in Cataleya hostel passed quickly! Mariela is a very nice and helpful host, always trying to be there for volunteers. I stayed in the hostel during the low season, so there was not a lot of work to be done, mainly cleaning. The hostel is not very big (two dorms and three private rooms, with three bathrooms in total, a big terrace and one stairs), so the cleaning can be done in less than two hours. We had a hot shower, an equipped kitchen, excellent Wi-Fi... Everything is very close and during your free time, you can visit other islands or the attractions in the vicinity. Recommended!

I have mixed feelings about my stay at the hostel. Mariella was super nice and welcoming and made me feel appreciated. She just has to much on her plate and it came to a lot of double bookings or last minute cancellation which put the volunteers in uncomfortable situations. There was also no bike, like it was promoted on Hostelworld and no free water (you have to pay 0,25$ per 1,5 litres). The included breakfast is pancake powder that you have to mix with your own water and there is also no oil so you have to buy that as well. We did get a Tour for free. Overall, I would not do it again

My experience at the hostel was great! I felt like home and I had a really good time. Everything was exactly as agreed, the work was easy and there was plenty of time to enjoy Bocas and its beautiful beaches. The hostel is ideally located, close to everything and to the dock where water taxis are, making it very convenient for exploring the nearby islands. Juan is a very caring person, always ready to help with anything you need. Highly recommended!

I enjoyed my stay at the hostel, i gained friends for life, atmosphere is really chill and bocas is beautiful. Hours and task are communicated and respected and the work is pretty manageable (even if you have no prior experience). Even though it can get a bit chaotic, Juan is always there if you need something. You will be sleeping in an 8 Person Mixed dorm with the guests and you will definitely need a lot of strength and patience for that. The same goes for the bathroom situation. Nevertheless, i would definitely recommend volunteering there! Gracias por todo!

We had a really great time volunteering in the hostel!! The atmosphere was amazing, we felt like at home:) The tasks were pretty straightforward, we had some misunderstandings but we figured it out with Juan (the host). The hostel isclean and comfortable. The location is great and the free bikes were really useful to get around the island. Volunteering in a hostel gave us a chance to meet and talk to many amazing people. We would definitely recommend the experience, but also advise to know some spanish because the language barrier between us and the host was sometimes hard.

It was a good experience, Mariela was an attentive host, the tasks were clear and the communication was good, I needed to extend one more night and Mariela was very kind. The room is comfortable and has air conditioning, which is a plus in a place like Bocas :)

The volunteering place is comfortable and the tasks assigned as well, and breakfast is flour to prepare pancakes. In my experience, I arrived with my partner and we were only going to stay one month but we renewed the stay because we found work outside the hostel and outside the volunteering, if not so, with a month it's fine. Mariela is good, in fact I sold empanadas for her, in some opportunity I listened, but there are things to modify on her part that can improve her project, so that there is no discomfort or stress for volunteers and guests. Thanks to the hostel, I left with wonderful people.

What to say about the hostel, Mariela hosted us for 2 months, she is a good person, a bit scatterbrained but she is a good person, the hostel needs attention, if you handle it well it's comfortable, breakfast is pancake flour, the shared room has air conditioning and it is highly valued in a place like La Boca, volunteering is light, I thank the hostel for making me meet lovely people who arrive as guests and that is the best thing it has, thanks Mariela, to improve because it's a lovely project
