My experience at the hostel was short, but very meaningful. I was warmly welcomed by Monique and Ernandes; they are great hosts.
The tasks were calm and simple. It was easy to talk with Monique about day-to-day matters and to organize what was requested.
The volunteers' room was separate from the guests and we had privacy to change clothes. I am grateful from the bottom of my heart for all the hospitality I received!

The hostel was my first volunteering experience and it couldn't have been better! I felt at home and part of the family, which I consider extremely important to live this lifestyle. The tasks and shifts are divided fairly among the volunteers, and nothing deviates from what was agreed. The hosts are incredibly understanding and flexible; we really enjoy Caraíva and experience all that the place has to offer us. I am forever grateful to Monique and Ernandes for the warm welcome and for this magical place! I return home with many lessons learned, a heart full of longing, love and good vibes. CAUTION GIRLS! Unfortunately my experience at the hostel was traumatic. I suffered, witnessed, and heard stories of harassment by the host's brother. He stays in the back house with free access to the common areas of the hostel. He is a guy who quickly shows that he has odd jokes, spends the day watching videos of women on his phone, looks at women in a disgusting and embarrassing way, and I heard from other girls that there have been situations where he harassed a guest physically. I recorded one of these situations and left as quickly as possible because we don't know what they are capable of.

I was welcomed with so much warmth that, in a short time, it seemed that I had become part of a family. It's a very good feeling to realize that, even far from home, you find a place where you truly belong. I am immensely grateful for everything I experienced here. I had a great experience at the hostel. Monique from the first moment explained everything to me very clearly and was flexible enough to allow me to balance volunteering with my remote work. The tasks are simple and the schedules were always met. The hostel is well organized and well equipped. Wi-Fi works really well. It was a great place for my season in Caraíva.
