Program Details

Since 2014, Cambodia Child First has worked to give kids in the Siem Reap area a better shot at a good education. We teach English and Chinese so they can communicate with the wider world, run arts programs to give them room to be creative, and sports to keep them active and working as a team.

As an NGO, we're extra school — kids come to us in the afternoons and evenings, on top of their regular classes.

Activities & Shift

Our school operates with limited resources and faces maintenance challenges.

Despite these constraints, we are dedicated to providing quality education to our students. Your support and understanding are greatly appreciated.

Teaching Schedule:

- Classes run from 3:00 PM to 7:30 PM, accommodating all proficiency levels.

- Classes are co-taught with a local teacher and 1-2 volunteers.

Classroom Responsibilities:

Assist with basic classroom cleaning before sessions.
Organize teaching materials and prepare the classroom prior to lessons.
Educational books and resources are available to support your teaching.

There are 3 classes:

- 15:00–17:00: Kids (3 to 10 years old) – beginner English
- 17:30–18:30: Access 1 (12–17 years old) – beginner/intermediate English
- 18:30–19:30: Access 2 (14–18 years old) – intermediate English

We sometimes need help with miscellaneous projects such as:

- etc.

Please let us know of any skills you'd like to share, so we can find the best way for you to help!

Rules

The additional fee of $6 per day breaks down as follows:

$5 goes toward high-quality meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), plus WiFi at our homestay (no SIM card needed), electricity, and clean water.
$1 goes toward general school maintenance. Our school is very rural, so proper infrastructure for a safe, comfortable learning environment is hard to come by — this dollar helps us maintain an effective space for the children.

Please note: we charge a one-time $20 fee (includes a free tour) if you need pickup from Siem Reap or the airport — it's about a 45-minute drive from either. Just let us know your preferred day and time, and we'll arrange it. Other pickup options are available too, so ask if the standard one doesn't work for you.

Our weekly optional tours (included with the $20 pickup) include visits to local markets, sunrise in the forest, and traditional religious ceremonies — a great way to get a deeper look at local culture.

You'll have your own private room during your stay. Please keep it clean and organized, and note that shoes aren't allowed inside the house, per local custom.

To respect Cambodian cultural norms, women should wear pants or skirts covering the knees, and everyone should keep their shoulders covered while at the school.
