The guest house was a fantastic stay for my partner and I. The work was straightforward, physical in a good way and communicated well from Karen in the mornings. We always knew what needed to be done - if it was raining we would be cutting wood under shelter. The location of the stay was perfect for exploring Glasgow, Edinburgh and Stirling, with only a 20 minute walk to the local station. We loved the shepherds hut, with its own kitchen, bathroom, bed and TV - it was cozy. The bonus was having their cat Charlie come and stay every night, she's a real sweetie. Thank you to Karen and Elaine!

We had a wonderful time volunteering at the guest house. Karen and Elaine are lovely hosts and always made sure we had everything we needed. The work itself was rewarding and the hours very well respected. It was mostly yard work and gardening, or wood chopping when it was raining. It's in a great location, 20 minute walk to the Lenzie train station which has great rail connections to Glasgow central (10 mins), Edinburgh (40 mins) and Stirling (20 mins). So you'll have a great time exploring! Thanks so much to Karen and Elaine, and of course Charlie, the resident cat :)

Karen, Elaine, and Charlie welcomed me with incredible kindness, respect, and warmth, making me feel part of their home, not just a volunteer. Helping with gardening and improving the guest house was a pleasure, but the best part was the people: the conversations, the trust, and the freedom to explore Scotland. the guest house feels like a real home surrounded by nature. My stay at the guest house with Karen and Elaine was a very rewarding experience. The work was simple and always related to gardening, which meant being constantly connected with nature. During my free time, I was able to explore Glasgow and the surrounding areas, and the natural landscapes there are truly incredible. It was also very comforting to fall asleep listening to the sound of the river. On top of that, Karen and Elaine were always attentive and made sure I had everything I needed. So I 100% recommend giving this experience a try. Ps: Charlie, the host cat, was the perfect companion heh

It was one of the best experiences that I had here in Worldpackers! Karen and Elaine are just amazing, it was such a relaxing and fun time. The place is amazing, they provide food for you to cook, you have your own hut and the job is very chill, you can do it and enjoy the rest of the day. I really like it and hope to come back to visit!

I had the most wonderful time at the guest house! Karen and Elaine are fantastic hosts (and so is Charlie, the permanent resident of the shepherd's hut). They made me feel so welcome and so appreciated too. I loved that the work was physical and always outdoors - you can really see how much of a difference you make during your stay. I already miss waking up to the sound of the river and the birds right next to the hut. Thank you Karen and Elaine for such a wonderful stay and for being such great hosts! If I could give Karen and Elaine 10 stars I would! From the first day I felt very welcome and comfortable. They check in on you, make sure you have everything you need, and are very kind/clear explaining the daily tasks, which are very resonable. Every task is outdoors and I discovered I loved that! Especially strimming in the gardens.
The cottage you stay in is clean, cozy, and you feel at home very quickly. Their cat Charlie adopted me and I miss her snuggles so much!! Thank you Karen and Elaine for hosting me and I truly feel I have made a connection for life!

I had a amazing volunteering experience in Bothlynbank. Karen and Elaine welcomed me very warmly and always checked if I was okay and had everything I needed. The work was easy and flexible, and I loved meeting the puppy Snooky and the sweet cat Charlie — they made my days much happier. 💗
