This is an experience of a lifetime. I couldn't have asked for a better first time solo travel trip. Fernando and his family took really great care of me and welcomed we in with open arms the moment I arrived. During my stay I was able to see beautiful waterfalls and lots of wildlife, go Kayaking, hiking, do the Tarzan swings, camping on islands, and learn how to make chocolate from scratch while contributing to tours. Fernando made me feel very safe while encouraging me to overcome my fears. I am so grateful to have met Fernando and his beautiful family. Pura Vida!

My experience in the south of Costa Rica with Fernando was incredible! I was able to see so many beautiful places and hidden gems of this land that I couldn't have imagine before. Even if you are not on a tour you will have the opportunity to meet some locals (mostly kids) and teach them English. If you are looking for adventure and you want to immerse yourself into the local culture this is the right place for you. Little tip, remember to withdraw some cash before coming here because it was difficult for me to find an ATM which dispenses dollars.

Fernando is a great host, he is really flexible and will always try to make you feel good. His place is quite basic, with minimum confort but his heart is big.
During my stay, we went on a 12km hike in the jungle and we stayed 2 nights on a campsite at the seaside. We went exploring the surrounding with a kayak and did a bit of snorkeling.
The others days we stayed at his place, learning how to make coconut biscuits, helping translating for a cacao tour, or we did some work on his house like painting.
Around his place you can easily meet some being of the jungle, like monkeys.

My time at ExtremoSur was amazing and I feel so lucky to have experienced it! Fernando was super friendly and made me feel extremely welcomed. Each day was completely different and I got to help with lots of tours and other projects. If you love nature, adventure, getting dirty wet and muddy, and don't mind quickly changing plans/are able to go with the flow, this is the place for you! I enjoyed my time so much that I ended up staying longer than I originally planned. I'll remember my experiences here for the rest of my life!! :)

Spending over 3 weeks at the camping has been absolutely fantastic! Fernando is incredibly knowledgable and passionate about the jungle, canyoning and his Tarzan swings. I was fortunate enough to volunteer when a lot of tours were on so visited many different waterfalls and helped out by learning how to belay and handle the ropes. Fernando is super adventurous and fun to work with and he really likes to give back by taking you to amazing locations if you put in the effort. Also his wife Linneth is lovely and will cook each day. Accommodation is basic but that can be expected for the jungle.

I had a very nature-focused experience here, spending most of my time in the jungle and waterfalls. The area is still relatively undiscovered and not touristy, allowing you to experience the raw and diverse nature of Costa Rica. Staying with the family gives great insight into local culture, and through Damjan I learned about the Ngäbe culture and practiced my Spanish. The work is varied, not difficult and the tours are fun. Communication was often unclear, with limited explanations, and agreements were not always followed, although during quieter moments effort was made to do something nice.

It was an amazing experience be ready for a bit less comfort. And be okay with not knowing what is going to happen next. You will see a lot of the nature of Costa Rica and if you want meet and understand more of local culture.

My time in Golfito was truly incredible and immersed in nature! We had lots of adventures, I met other volunteers, and Fernando is super nice, understanding, and flexible (with schedules, dates, work, activities, etc.) Every day was so fun. But don't expect everything to go exactly as planned because the environment is very dynamic, so schedules and activities can change (tours may be canceled or added last minute, or you may be asked to help with different tasks as needed). Lineth's cooking is so good and the family is overall very welcoming and warm. I would definitely volunteer here again

This was one of my favorite experiences! If you like adventure and nature, this place is for you. Every day is not the same. Some days you work at the finca on some projects and other days Fernando takes you on the tours to learn how things work and make sure everything is ready for the tourist season. A few tips - make sure to drink lots of water, get some snacks as you'll be very active and hungry, bring clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting wet and dirty ;) With this experience, I got to live the local culture, go on adventures, and explore a lot of places - Pura Vida 🌺

This experience was unforgettable.Fernando took us on free jungle tours where we practiced rappel and discovered amazing places. I also helped at their little school, and I loved the teaching part , it really pushed me out of my comfort zone and kept me close to Costa Rica's incredible biodiversity. Linneth cooks delicious dishes three times a day, their daughter is super sweet, and Damien, the student with them, was also great company. What truly makes this experience special is the family's kindness and generosity. People from CostaRica are so warm, i can only recommend this experience😇
