Being part of the project team was one of the most meaningful experiences I have had! The classroom, the house where we stayed, the team, and the neighborhood are all lovely and are an amazing space to learn about Peru, the culture, and the amazing grassroots work being done to alleviate inequalities in the area. Everyone is so kind, the work is limited to 3-4 hours a day or less, and there are tons of opportunities to share and learn from everyone. The kids are incredibly sweet and excited to learn and meet volunteers. The area is easily accessible to the Cusco center! Highly recommended.

Volunteering at the project was truly a warm and rewarding experience. I helped the children with maths homework and gave english lessons for around an hour a day. The children are great fun and very eager to learn new things and about your culture. The location itself is great for local immersions as you are a bit outside the centre of Cusco and the neighbourhood is full of friendly locals. The facilities and accommodation are comofortable and you are guaranteed help from Mama Lucí from day 1. I recommend this to anyone looking for a truly wholesome and rewarding experience in a local community

This is a great experience to immerse yourself in Andean culture. The kids are fun to work with and love having volunteers around. Outside of classroom hours, there's a lot to do around the city. Luci does a great job of making the apartment your home away from home. Si haces esta experiencia, te vas a sentir en casa!

I loved the project! I miss the kids so much. It's a great program to immerse yourself into the local culture in Cusco. I taught a little bit of English, but mostly helped the kiddos with their homework and played games with them :) would love to come back!

I loved my time at the project! It was great to live in the local community and get to know the amazing kids who attend. The classes are well organised and you have the opportunity to plan and deliver short English lessons or activities, and the kids are very enthusiastic and willing to learn. The accomodation provided is very comfortable, and Lucy is such a welcoming host, always there to help with whatever you might need. The area is safe and very local, so you can experience Cusco outside of the touristy areas, while still having time to explore in the mornings and weekends. Muchas gracias!

Thank you very much, Polly!
Your time at Cusimaky was wonderful. Thank you for supporting the children with English classes, and for accompanying and helping them at the pool.
These kinds of activities are only possible thanks to volunteers like you — your help was essential.
It was a real pleasure having you with us. You’ll always have a home here in Cusco, and we wish you the best in all your adventures around Latin America.

Have a great trip!!!!

Volunteering at Cusimaki was the best experiences we have ever had Helping the children with homework, and organising activities really made us appreciate the importance of the work of this kind of association Cusimaki is a great opportunity for them to build their future developing new skills. Most of them come from difficult socio-economical situations and they can't access to extracurricular activities San Jerónimo isn't a turistic place so we could deeply connect with the locals The accomodation is comfortable and cozy. We felt very welcome by Mrs Lucy Definitely recommend it

My time at the project was truly amazing! I've stayed for 2 weeks and had multiple sessions with the kids to practice their English and help with some mathematical exercises. All the kids were super nice, friendly and eager to learn. The work all the volunteers do to make this project possible is super important and I hope they are able to provide the support to the kids for many more years. Many thanks to everyone and I would definitely recommend everybody to contribute to this project!

I only spent five sessions with the children and we started learning some basic English together. I think the program would benefit from some more structured English resources and I will look at sourcing those for the program when I return home to Australia.

Volunteering with the project was an inspiring and rewarding experience. Teaching English to the children, who are eager to learn and full of energy, felt truly impactful - especially knowing how valuable English is in a touristic city like Cusco. The classes are well-organized, and the local team is welcoming and passionate. The small daily fee goes directly to supporting the project and providing materials, which makes a real difference. Highly recommend for anyone looking to contribute meaningfully while experiencing local culture.
