Program Details

Because volunteer stays are relatively short, it is important that we make the best possible use of our time together. For this reason, we ask all volunteers to carefully read the information provided before their arrival. This helps create a common understanding of the place, the project, and the role they are applying for.
We also ask volunteers to keep in mind that their work will not begin from zero. The B&B is an ongoing project with a history, existing processes, previous work, and current priorities. While we highly value new ideas and fresh perspectives, we expect volunteers to first understand the context before proposing significant changes.
The first three working days are especially important. During this period, volunteers are encouraged to observe, ask questions, learn about current needs, and understand how their skills can best contribute to the project. By the end of the third working day, we ask each volunteer to present a preliminary proposal outlining the approach they would like to take, the contribution they hope to make, and how they believe their work can support the project's current goals.
These first days are also an opportunity for both the volunteer and the B&B team to assess whether expectations, communication styles, working methods, and priorities are sufficiently aligned to create a productive collaboration. Experience has shown that early clarity benefits everyone and helps prevent misunderstandings, frustration, or investment of time and energy in directions that are unlikely to lead to meaningful results. At this point, we mutually decide whether to continue the collaboration.

Activities & Shift

The regular working shift is in the morning, from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Occasionally, and depending on operational needs, the schedule may vary by mutual agreement. Since we are a small accommodation with a lean team, maintenance priorities change throughout the year according to the season, occupancy, and the current condition of the facilities. Rather than assigning repetitive daily tasks, we identify together the projects that are most valuable during your stay, taking into account your practical skills, experience, and initiative.

Typical projects may include:
• Deep cleaning and restoration of outdoor floors and entrance areas.
• Greenhouse window cleaning.
• Organization and improvement of the BBQ area.
• Organization of storage and maintenance spaces.
• Cleaning windows in common areas and guest rooms.
• Gardening and seasonal outdoor maintenance.
• Small painting, repair, or improvement projects whenever needed.
We especially appreciate volunteers who enjoy practical work, pay attention to detail, take care of tools and materials, and take pride in leaving a space in better condition than they found it.
