Nourish the community Β· kitchen & home care in Alentejo πΏ
The experience
Every thriving community needs people who hold the home. In this role, you are part of that
You will rotate through cooking plant-based meals for the whole community, keeping shared spaces clean, and bringing care to the daily rhythms that allow everything else β the land work, the building, the circles β to happen.
Grounding, real, and more connected than it sounds. This is where you meet everyone. πΏ

Program Details
PurposeFlow is a land-based living project in Pavia, Alentejo. Volunteers join a rotating community of 10β15 people working on land restoration, food systems, natural building and communal living on six hectares in one of Europe's driest regions.
Volunteers contribute 15β25 hours per week depending on their chosen exchange model. Mornings are structured working time. Most afternoons are free.
Life here is real: shared bell tents, compost toilets, limited water, and genuine community. It is challenging and it is rich. The people who thrive here come ready to contribute, communicate openly and find the good in a tough environment.
We welcome volunteers of all backgrounds. Communal meals are fully plant-based.
Activities & Shift
Shifts run 4β5 days per week, roughly 3β5 hours each morning.
π€ What the work looks like:
π€ Cooking plant-based breakfast and/or lunch for the community β rotated with other volunteers and team members
π€ Cleaning and caring for communal spaces β kitchen, living areas, bathrooms and outdoor spaces
π€ Keeping the home organised β storage areas, shared tools and supplies
π€ Flagging when things need restocking or repairing
π€ Bringing a caring, attentive presence to the space that everyone shares
Afternoons are mostly yours β rest, explore the land, join optional workshops, or connect informally with others.
Community activities happen organically throughout the week: sharing circles, music, creative evenings and fire circles. These are optional and always open.
Rules
π Water is scarce here. Use it mindfully β showers, dishes and personal use all count.
π± All communal meals are plant-based and vegan. Private consumption of non-vegan food is your own responsibility and is fine.
π§Ή Leave communal spaces cleaner than you found them. This applies to everyone without exception.
π€ Communicate directly. If something isn't working β with the space, the work, or another person β say so. Passive friction spreads quickly in a small community.
π¦ Contributions: volunteers are expected to honour their chosen exchange model (hours and/or weekly food contribution).
πΎ Pets: welcome with prior conversation. We have animals on the land and their safety and wellbeing comes first.
π« We will ask someone to leave if their behaviour causes consistent harm to others, to the animals, or to the land.
