Jose creates a very friendly environment. We had a lot of fun internal events, like pizza or movie nights, and a space to discuss the organization of the days. The people at the hostel are amazing - warm and welcoming. You feel part of the team right away. You can surf, skate or snorkel with the hostel equipment. The beach is 3 mins away from the hostel - i had my morning coffee with an ocean view or a beach walk most of the days. The location for local partying or island travelling is perfect.

It was my first time volunteering, so I didn't know exactly what to expect. However, from day one, I felt welcomed and comfortable, just like a part of the hostel family.
There is definitely a lot of work at the hostel, but by helping each other and working as a team, we always managed to get everything done. The staff genuinely cared about how I was feeling and were always very flexible with my schedule and time off.
I shared so many amazing adventures with the guests and other volunteers, and the atmosphere made me feel right at home. Thank you for this wonderful opportunity!

My experience at Kite & Surf Hostel was very positive. The volunteer community was wonderful, and from the first moment I felt at home. The staff are very caring, always kind and available to resolve any doubt or problem.
The island is wonderful and there is a lot to do, so you will never get bored. It has been, without a doubt, the best volunteering experience I have had so far. I couldn't recommend it more!

My time in Gran Canaria and at the Surf Camp is something I'll never forget. From day one, the staff and other volunteers welcomed me with so much warmth, way more than I ever expected. It's the kind of place where you build real connections and share amazing moments. I honestly think it's a magical spot, and if you go with the right mindset, you can really feel the great energy. The schedules and tasks were always respected. José, Teresa, and Serena were super professional, but also really friendly and flexible. This experience gave me so much in every way<3

The kite and surf hostel has been a little home for this last month. They have been welcoming, they were flexible and comprehensive for every need. Helping them and participating to some of their events has been really nice. If you are searching for a life near the ocean where you can live in your bikini that's the one!! Thanks Jose, Serena and Teresa and all the other volunteers for my staying!!

The location is very nice and the kitchen too! For me personally the experience didn't meet my expectations. Longterm volunteers and the manager didn't feel very welcoming towards non Spanish speakers, so I ended up feeling a bit lonely. However, if your Spanish is really good this is less of a problem I think. The other thing is that the tasks were quite demanding. It's 5 hours of cleaning and they're quite critical. They need more staff to do all the work they want to have done in a day. Personally I thought the amount of work is not worth what you get in return.

At the hostel, I found people who shared my same drive, desire to grow, and a great positive energy. I really enjoyed the evenings spent chatting on the terrace, the days shared with other guests and volunteers, and I loved the brightness and sense of peace the island gives off. The shifts are tough but fair, and thanks to the manager Mireja's flexibility, you can organize your time in the best way. I arrived alone, but I never felt alone during my stay :)

Volunteering at this surf hostel was a fantastic experience! From day one, we felt warmly welcomed by both the staff and guests, and we quickly felt part of the team. The hostel has an amazing atmosphere that's both relaxed and lively, making it easy to meet incredible people from all over the world. The work itself was well organised and fulfilling, with plenty of time to surf and explore in between. We learnt a lot, made lifelong friends and felt genuinely valued as part of the team. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a meaningful volunteering experience.

My experience at the Kite and Surf hostel is something I'll remember for the rest of my life, the environment is an amazing place for volunteers and travelers to hang out and get to know each other. My contribution here is certainly different than what most volunteers should expect because the building is undergoing a lot of renovation. I applied and helped with construction and painting. It was a bit chaotic at times with changes being made on short notice to the volunteers schedules but the wrinkles are getting smoothed out and I'm excited to see what the place will be like when it's done!
