Enjoy a farm stay at our small farm house in rural Masaka

The experience

We are a goat, crop and coffee farm in rural Kasaala village of Masaka district, Uganda. As our project is now still at its very beginning and our long term goal is to be a sustainable farm that produces varied crops and a good breeding goat farm, we urgently need people who have experience or knowledge of goats, coffee and maintenance work.

Program Details

WECO Community Uganda offers volunteers an opportunity to experience authentic rural life in Masaka, Uganda, while contributing to community and sustainable farming activities.

The program is based at our small mixed farm, where we grow coffee and bananas and keep goats and ducks. We are also currently working towards establishing a poultry farm for egg production.

Volunteers participate in daily farm activities such as grazing goats, cleaning the goat house, applying goat manure to coffee trees, weeding the coffee plantation, and harvesting coffee during the harvest season. Depending on the time and ongoing projects, volunteers may also engage in community-based activities and cultural exchange experiences.

This experience is ideal for people interested in sustainable agriculture, rural community life, environmental awareness, and learning about Ugandan culture. Volunteers have the chance to live simply, connect with local people, and contribute meaningfully while learning new skills.

Accommodation and meals can be arranged during the stay with a small contribution from volunteers to support hosting and community project costs. Airport pickup can also be organized when needed.

Rules

Please be aware that you cannot expect funding for your activities from us or our initiatives. It might be possible that we have a project going on in the field you want to engage but please consult us in advance. In the past we also had volunteers who did their private fundraising to realize their projects. But there is also plenty of work which does not require any money! So you can decide what suits you best and any new ideas are more than welcome. Just let us know :)

We are still growing and every year we start new projects and enter cooperation with new partners. Volunteering here is not like any other structured program – we are very flexible and it is up to you in which activities you involve yourself. If you want to volunteer with us or have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask. Come and visit us!
