Regenerative Farm Hand in rural Portugal


The experience

This is a unique opportunity to assist in bringing an old farm that's been over ploughed and over grazed for decades back to t's former glory, whilst learning why returning back to the land is so important to our and the earth's health, how animal's are an essential part of the cycle, regenerative farming practices (not just in the farm, but into the wider community), fermenting, foraging, animal care, food and skills swaps & community building.


What you offer

13 hours of help per week

Animal Care: Help look after and take care of animals.

Building & Repairing: Help with a wide range of repairs or building.

Farming: Plant crops, sow seeds and help in outside tasks.

Gardening: Help grow plants and cultivate gardens


What you get

2 days off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Only hosts solo volunteers (doesn’t accept couples or partners)

Program Details

Gardening, weeding, watering, land clearing, cleaning out animals, general animal care, cleaning pool, and general tasks around the land.
Also fermenting and preserving foods and drinks occasionally and maybe helping with events, workshops and markets sometimes too.
The volunteers have a small stone house with your own inside & outside kitchen, bathroom, privacy and views.
In your spare time there are lots of beautiful walks, a river near by, waterfalls a little further and use of the swimming pool here.


Activities & Shift

2.5hrs each morning, starting fairly early, but finishing early too!
Monday to Friday, with weekends off.
Occasionally it may be helpful to work all day to finish a project, but then take the rest of the week off.
You need to be fit and healthy for this work, even though it's not many hours a day.


Rules

We are a working farm, so vegans and vegetarians may not like it here.

We are Christians, so please bare that in mind when applying.

We only allow natural skin and body care products on the land as the water goes back into the land.
