I extended my time at the hostel since I enjoyed it so much! I made great memories with other volunteers/guests and was able to do day trips every week. Work of reception, bartending, and occasionally party promoting. the hostel is 100% THE party hostel in Tunco. The only “negative” part for me is that Tunco surfing is more for intermediate to advanced surfers. I am a beginner (can stand and ride green waves) but the waves were often too large for me. The town is lovely but touristy and I really enjoyed my time here. I will miss it, especially the hostel :) thank you Nico

Its a very lovely social hostel and i made a lot of international friends that were both guests and volunteers here. Work consisted of reception shifts, bar party shifts, and promotion of events. Organization of shifts was messy at first but it got solved over time. We volunteers had our own room and we respected eachothers belongings bcs there were no lockers in room. Intermediate surf spots bocana and sunzal were walking distance away from hostel and we could use the boards for free (there is not a lot of them). You have plenty of time to visit other places bcs Nico is flexibile with shfts.

I highly recommend volunteering here, from day one I felt like part of the hostel family! The hostel has a great laid-back vibe, the pool area is nice place to hang out and meet new people, and the volunteer room is also very comfortable :) The work at the reception is easy to learn and the hostel parties are so much fun that it barely feels like working. It's well located near surf spots, gym, restaurants and bars, and you can easily take day trips around El Salvador! I'll really miss this place. Thank you, Nico and Rebeca, for having me part of the team <3

It was my first volunteering experience and definitely not my last. I am greatful for the other volunteers who made this place feel special. I loved that the hostel is just a short walk away from the ocean and I got the chance to improve my surfing. I think 25hrs of work is a little bit much in comparison to the compensation but the tasks are quite easy and the shifts were pretty flexible or could be switched with other volunteers in case someone wanted a certain day off or more time to explore area.

I had an amazing time volunteering at dos palmas, Nico was an awesome host and made me feel like family from the start, as a volunteer I was able to get free surf board rentals and discounted surf lessons which I used a lot and enjoyed heaps! The reception works hours were super flexible so you were able to plan your week out with travel plans and mostly surfing! Altogether dos palmas offers a social fun atmosphere where you will meet people that will become life long friends. Thankyou Nico for being so kind and the opportunity again, I loved it! :) Hannah

Absolutely loved our time in Dos Palmas! The volunteering is now for a reception position as the hostel is renovated and up and running. It's truly impressive how many great people and vibes pass through the spot. The amenities were super comfortable and the work is so relaxed, often spending my free time hanging out with whoever is on shift anyways. Niko is a great host and a great guy who went above and beyond to consider our preferences and ensure we were comfortable. Still sad to have left dos Palmas and miss Nico, the cats, the volunteers and the guests dearly :(

My volunteering experience at Dos Palmas was exceptional. Nico is a great host, very welcoming and contributes heavily to bringing the social and loving vibe the hostel has to offer. In my time at Dos Palmas I met so many new friends from all over the world and can't wait to see them again. I'm more than grateful for the experience to learn the work here and to meet so many amazing individuals. Would highly recommend volunteering at Dos Palmas!

My three weeks at Dos Palmas were great. There were nice projects to build and the supplied tools are good. Nico is a very easy going guy and made sure that everyone is doing well. This place is going to be even better in future if all plans are realized. Already now it's a great environment to stay and perfect to connect to international travelers. Thanks for everything 🖖

Great volunteering experience! Very nice hostel, with pool and close to the beach. The owner is friendly and makes sure that everyone is having a good time. Pretty cool to say that I helped to build this place. It is only going to get better and better. I will definitely be back in the future.

I had an amazing two months renovating Nico's hostel in El Tunco. My duties consisted of building 10 pod style bunks, a small deck, tool storage shelves, and various small mantainence/repair jobs. Hours were very flexible as long as we put in work--it wasn't an issue to skip work on a Monday so we could take a little trip away from El Tunco and work a little extra when we came back. In the beginning it was a little hectic with a few things taking slightly longer than planned but honestly I quite enjoyed being part of the process. I don't know when, but I would like to come back one day.
