Program Details
The Support Communities in Rural Malawi Volunteer Program offers an immersive experience in grassroots community development. Volunteers work closely with women, youth, and children at our Community Resource Center, contributing to initiatives that promote skills development, empowerment, and improved livelihoods.
Depending on your skills, experience, and interests, you may be involved in:
- Community outreach and social work, including visits to local families and support for vulnerable groups
- Helping our women in tailoring and fashion design Fundraising initiatives to sustain ongoing programs and meet local needs
- Organizing and participating in sporting events that promote youth engagement and well-being
- Administrative and office tasks such as data entry, reporting, and communications
- Workshops and training sessions, either as a participant or facilitator
- Educational support, including tutoring or assisting in local schools or learning centers
- Simply playing and being with the children that come to our community centre every day
- Assisting with our feeding programme for children which happens every weekend
- We encourage volunteers to bring their own ideas and passions to the program. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps create a lasting impact in the community.
Activities & Shift
Volunteers will engage in a variety of community development activities, including:
Supporting women and young women in skills development such as tailoring, fashion design, and other income-generating activities (IGAs).
Participating in the weekend feeding program for vulnerable children, assisting with meal preparation, distribution, and child engagement.
Helping with organizational tasks like social media management, documenting activities, proposal writing, fundraising, and partner engagement.
Participating in community outreach, including field visits to surrounding villages to support awareness campaigns and local programs.
Shifts:
Most volunteer activities take place at the Community Resource Center during standard working hours (Monday–Friday, 08:00–16:00).
The weekend feeding program usually runs on Saturdays or Sundays, requiring volunteers to participate for part of the day.
Outreach activities may occasionally involve half-day or full-day visits to surrounding communities.
