Great vibes, volunteers and staff were very nice. I met people from all over the world and practice my english. Ajay was open to talk about any inconveniences and flexible if we needed to do changes. Nice experience 🙌🫶🏻

I had a great time at the hostel. The hostel is very social and you can build friendships very easily while improving your English every day. The shift hours are totally fair and the work can be a bit hard, especially on weekends or if you're working with only one other volunteer. If you want to improve your English, meet people from all over the world and explore other part of London, just come :)

I know others had different experiences, but when I look back at my time in London I can say I enjoyed it :) Overall most people I met were very nice and I felt welcomed. What could be improved is the cleaning equipment. But Maria's cooking skills make up for that! I left earlier than planned, but the staff showed flexibility and it wasn't a problem. All in all a memorable experience!

For me personally, I have mixed feelings. I did enjoy certain aspects of my stay and had some good moments, but not because of the host or the work. Before this experience, I knew the hostel didn't have great reviews, but I thought I'd give it a try anyway. The feedback from the host regarding my speed and 'bad attitude' felt absurd, especially since the 25-hour minimum was exceeded and I only had one day off in my first week. On top of that, the host was very unprofessional, making assumptions about me having rich parents who pay for everything , which threw me off. My room there =ridiculous

We’d like to clarify that the agreed contribution is around 20–25 hours per week, which was reflected in your schedule. We also aimed to keep shifts manageable; however, on several occasions, tasks were declined and met with resistance, including the 2-3-hour shifts.
We aim to balance guests enjoying their time in London while fulfilling the agreed responsibilities, which are kept to a minimum.
We genuinely wish you all the best in your future travels and experiences.

The hostel was not a nice place to be. Ajay the manager was rude, condescending an abusive with how many hours we had to work. In the post says 25h of work and 2 free days, it was more than 30h, he made us go out and spend our own money on taking out the guests. He was rude and honestly made me felt really uncomfortable. He would do comments about punching me, or called me Chinese that's is weird because I have nothing to do with china, so it was a really offensive comment. The placed smelled rotten because he would allow other volunteers be dirty. Do yourself a favor and don’t come here

We’re sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations.
However, we would like to clarify that you left suddenly without prior notice, which made it difficult for the team. During your stay, your participation in daily tasks was limited, and from the beginning you expressed that you did not feel comfortable being here, which affected the overall atmosphere.
We always aim to follow the agreed work schedule and create a respectful environment for everyone.

The manager, Ajay, was rude and condescending. The spot advertised breakfast, but when I asked about it, he said there was none and falsely claimed this was implied in the listing. Shortly after, the description was changed. On my first day, right after my shift, he said "I don't think this is going to work", "it looks like you've never done this before" and said I wasn't social enough. This made no sense, as it was just my first day, the hostel was very quiet and I interacted normally with guests. I left because I didn't feel welcome and felt pressured to leave.

We’re sorry to hear that you felt this way, as creating a welcoming environment is very important to us.
However, we would like to clarify that your stay was very short and you chose to leave suddenly. During your time here, your participation and engagement were limited. This attitude unfortunately affected the team dynamic, as your English was not sufficient enough to communicate properly. Regarding breakfast, we are sorry for this confustion. We wish you all the best in the future.

Very bad experience. The workload was extremely high, often like doing the work of 3–4 people. We were made to work around 35 hours a week with no proper balance in shifts. Early morning shifts followed by late nights caused serious sleep deprivation, with only one day off, making it impossible to rest or plan anything.

The host was rude and unprofessional. Even after working hard, being flexible, and covering shifts for 3 weeks, when I tried to talk and raise my concerns respectfully, I was asked to leave immediately, even though I had nowhere else to stay.
I do not recommend this place.

We’re sorry to hear that you feel this way about your experience.

We would like to clarify that the workload and schedule are shared in advance and are similar for all volunteers. As in most hostels, flexibility is sometimes needed, especially during busy periods, but we always aim to distribute tasks fairly within the agreed hours.

During your stay, the team did its best to accommodate you. However, when concerns were raised, the conversation became difficult and you choose to leave.

I loved staying and working at the hostel!! It's a great place to volunteer, the staff and other volunteers were truly amazing, and I'd love to come back anytime. It was my first volunteering experience, and it turned out even better than I expected. The working hours were as agreed, and the family dinners on Wednesdays and Fridays make this place really special. Thank you for everything!
