The experience

We, Murat and Sibel, have been a couple trying to explore alternative ways of living and in the year 2018 we purchased a 4 acre land and moved from Istanbul to a forest village in Antalya, Kaş.

Our land is located on the mountain side of Kaş, on a secluded, peaceful spot within the pine forest.

Our purpose is to live "consciously" as much as possible, be sustainable, grow our own food and be independent as much as we can.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR AUGUST & SEPTEMBER 2026:

Because we are expecting a baby, during August and September we are mainly looking for responsible people who can stay at least 4 weeks and help with house sitting and light daily tasks while we adapt to life with our newborn.

We are Murat and Sibel.

In 2018 we left Istanbul and moved to a 4-acre piece of land in a quiet forest village in Kaş, Antalya, to explore a more conscious and sustainable way of living.

Our land sits on the mountainside in a peaceful pine forest.

Our goal is to live as sustainably and independently as possible: growing our own food, producing our own energy and creating a healthy ecosystem around us.

Over the years we have:

- Switched to a fully plant-based diet
- Studied permaculture and completed a PDC, then designed our land accordingly
- Set up an off-grid solar system for our electricity
- Built a small community of like-minded friends in the region

Because we are only two people, we sometimes struggle to keep up with all the tasks on the land.

That’s why we enjoy hosting volunteers who are curious about this lifestyle or share similar values.

**activities:**

The jobs that we usually take care of and may need help with include:

• Household chores
• Building pathways or steps
• Taking care of vegetable beds (weeding, adding compost, etc.)
• Fertilizing, pruning and mulching trees
• Maintenance of irrigation systems and pipes
• Planting new trees, flowers and herbs
• Light construction work (plumbing, woodwork, etc.)
• Turning compost
• Weeding
• Landscaping

We are quite relaxed and flexible people, so the schedule below is not strict, but this is generally how our days look:

In winter and early spring, our work usually starts around 11:00 a.m., when the sun reaches the valley and it becomes warmer.

We typically work for about 5 hours.

The schedule mostly depends on the weather, which often sets the rhythm.

Normally we work three days in a row followed by a day off, but we can also follow the more traditional five days of work and two days off if that works better.

As we are located in the countryside, our place is about a 20-minute drive from the center of Kaş and 5 minutes from the nearest public transportation stop. From there, minibuses run hourly between 08:00 and 20:00, going to and from town.

If we are available, we sometimes help our volunteers get to town and pick them up later.

Otherwise, we can always drop them off and pick them up at the bus stop.

**rules:**
:::Food::

We are vegan and we only cook and serve vegan meals.

Because spring is a very busy season for us, volunteers are expected to prepare their own breakfast in their accommodation.

We provide the ingredients for breakfast and for any additional meals volunteers may wish to prepare. From time to time we go grocery shopping in town together.

On workdays we share a vegan dinner, which we prepare together at our home.

We usually start cooking after finishing work around 17:00, eat around 18:00, and clean up together.

On days off, volunteers prepare their own meals.

Quiet Time
We value quiet time and privacy. After 20:00 we expect everyone to relax and spend time in their own personal spaces.

:::Location & Transport::

Our place is located 18 km from the center of Kaş and 5 km from the nearest public transportation stop.

Minibuses run hourly between 08:00 and 20:00. If we are available, we sometimes help volunteers get to town or pick them up. Otherwise we can drop them off and pick them up at the bus stop.

:::Accommodation:::

We can offer:
• A camping space (we can provide a tent, sleeping bags and mats)
• A place to park a van with access to limited solar electricity and water

:::General Rules:::

• Accommodations must be kept clean and tidy.
• If non-vegan food is cooked, it is only allowed in the volunteers’ private kitchen areas.
• As we live off-grid with solar power, high-energy appliances can only be used on sunny days.
• If you have special dietary requirements, please mention them when applying.
• Wi-Fi is available, but the speed is limited (about 10 Mbps).
• Please let us know if you have any allergies.
