Program Details
The activities start early, with the collective preparation of breakfast.
After this moment, we divide the day’s tasks, which include irrigating the cultivated areas, caring for the garden, and other space maintenance activities, always in a collaborative manner.
During meals, everyone participates in the preparation and organization of the kitchen. We understand that these are shared responsibilities of daily living, and, therefore, they are not counted as volunteer hours.
The cleaning of the main house and of the rooms where the volunteers stay is done once a week, in a rotation among all participants, contributing to keeping the environment pleasant and organized for everyone.
Activities & Shift
Shifts and work routine
The studio is a space of continuous production. There is always clay to recycle, glazes to prepare, pieces to finish, and the organization of those that will be fired in the kiln.
Before starting any activity, the space must be clean and organized. At the end of each shift, everyone is responsible for leaving the studio in order for the next day. Since the studio is open, every morning it is necessary to sweep the floor, as it tends to accumulate a lot of dust.
In some periods, it will also be necessary to take care of the external areas, including sweeping the garden with the rake, helping to keep the entire space pleasant and well maintained.
Shift hours:
- Morning: 8am to 11am
- Afternoon: 2pm to 5pm
We look for people who enjoy organized environments, are willing to work in a team, and understand that taking care of the space is part of the experience of living and creating in a ceramic studio.
Rules
Rules for coexistence
Our space is shared by a family and the volunteers. Therefore, some rules are essential to ensure good coexistence.
### Silence and respect
- Inside the main house, music should be heard only with headphones. At specific moments, we can listen to music in a group, always at a moderate volume and with everyone’s agreement.
- From 9pm, the house goes into rest time. We ask that conversations and other activities be carried out in a low tone, respecting the rest of the family and the other guests.
### Smoking
- Smoking is not allowed inside the house nor on the balcony. If you are a smoker, use only the indicated external areas and dispose of the cigarette butts properly.
### Organization and cleaning
The cleaning of the house is a shared responsibility among all residents.
The tasks include:
- Cleaning the bathrooms;
- Sweeping and mopping the common areas;
- Cleaning the kitchen;
- Organization and cleaning of one’s own room.
### Kitchen
- The dishes for the meals are the responsibility of the volunteers.
- When there is only one volunteer staying, he will be responsible for the dishes of lunch and the afternoon/evening.
- When there are two or more volunteers, this task will be divided among all, in a rotation system.
We believe that taking care of the space where we live is part of the volunteer experience and of building a harmonious living together.
