It was a wonderful experience. The place, the dogs and the owner are amazing. Be hosted in a small town in the mountain was such an experience i suggest to do. Very lovely and kind people. I appreciate it!

Volunteering at Ipsum Stella Nova was my first experience with worldpackers and I couldn't have asked for a better one! Konstance and her dad are two of the most lovely people I've ever met and I really enjoyed working with the dogs and learning how to train them. The work hours were absolutely reasonable and Konstance went out of her way to make sure that everyone felt comfortable and not overwhelmed. I had a great time and would absolutely recommend this experience to anyone looking for some quiet downtime!

I spent 1,5 months volunteering with the shelter in Bardufoss, Norway, taking care of dogs: feeding them and taking them on daily walks. The work was about 4 hours a day, and the schedule was clear and fair, so I always knew what was expected and still had plenty of free time. Both hosts were welcoming, communicative, and genuinely sweet. I had my own lovely room, with a shared kitchen and bathroom, and felt at home quickly. The best part was spending time with the pups and learning how to train them, along with meeting new people and enjoying such a majestic place. Highly recommend!

I had a great experience at the shelter! It's located in a small town surrounded by beautiful nature. The work hours were absolutely reasonable, and the facilities are comfortable as well. During my stay I got to visit many cool spots around northern Norway, since I got there by car. The dogs are absolute sweethearts, although some of them can be a handful when you're walking with them. If you're an active person, who wants to get away from your busy life and enjoy the polar day/night, this is the place for you! I'm so grateful for my stay there and I highly recommend this position! :)

I spent a month volunteering at the dog hotel the shelter in Bardufoss, and it was an unforgettable experience. Constance and her parents are warm and loving people who made me feel very comfortable from the start. The work was simple and enjoyable, and I had plenty of free time. I learned a lot about dog training and dogs in general, and I already miss the pups. The surroundings are beautiful, with lots of nature and space, and Tromsø is just a short trip away. I can wholeheartedly recommend the shelter to anyone who loves dogs. 🐶✨

My stay was truly a once in a lifetime experience. I got to grow as a person and learned so much. I felt very welcomed and the hosts tried everything to make me feel comfortable. The place does have some minor issues, like the bathroom. I was a little overwhelmed by the arrival of responsibility I had early on. I didn't have any experience with dogs, but Konstance replied to all of my questions really fast. The nature is astonishing, looks like a winter wonderland. If you like dogs and nature, apply here. I'm so grateful I got the chance to volunteer at the shelter. <3

The place was rather messy, some things remained broken (washing machine, bathtub, doors...) and my fellow volunteers and I almost haven't been taught the work at all BUT I did have an amazing time discovering Norway through this place: you get to live close to a beautiful forest, surrounded by georgeous mountains and, truly, this landscape with take your breathe away every single day! If energetic, the dogs are really lovely as well 💕 Also, know that what I mentioned is on its way to be fixed so to sum up, if you love dogs and nature I do think YOU'D BE A TOTAL FOOL FOR NOT APPLYING THERE!!!

I spent two months at the dog hotel. There can be many dogs at once, so the work can be demanding. Or there are almost no hoteldogs and you only take care of the permanent residents which are very sweet and love cuddles.
You should be confident in handling different breeds and personalities, as some dogs pull hard on walks or are difficult around strangers or other dogs. Most, however, love cuddles and relaxing in the living room. Konstance is available on Discord for questions, but you mainly take care of the dogs yourself. You have to show initiativ in asking questions to get aswers you need

I spent almost all of june here, alongside another volunteer. The accommodation was simple (& not what is shown in the listing). The introduction to tasks etc. was quite brief. Konstance & her father were very kind but weren't around much (which I think was influenced by personal reasons). A lot of initiative was needed with regard to communication and asking for necessary information. At times it became overwhelming with the amount of dogs we had. Some things improved in the end after we shared a few of our concerns, which I really appreciated. I still really loved my time with the dogs!:)

Konstance replied

Hi Maja, thank you for your honest feedback. I'm sorry we couldn't provide the experience we aim to give. We have been dealing with a serious family emergency, which affected the support we could provide. While this explains the situation, it doesn't excuse it. We'll update the private room photos as soon as the room is available as we don't disturb the current volunteer staying there. We are also improving our training, communication and follow-up so future volunteers have a better experience.
