Working at the hostel was a great experience! We got to meet so many other travellers and get an insight into how a hostel actually runs! We helped out at the desk most days and cleaned the hostel, completely an art project, and got to use the motorbikes whenever we wanted! Highly recommend, and Francisco is super friendly, showing us around all the best local spots!!

The hostel is an amazing place to stay, socialise, embrace local culture and have a really good time doing activities and partying. Francisco is a great person who will take care of you and adapt to your needs. Together you create a wonderful bond and share many very memorable moments. The activities vary a lot from planning hot spring parties to doing waterfall hikes. The facilities are just what you need and the town is perfect to explore and have great food and drinks.

Volunteering on the farm was such a cool experience! It started out with some challenges but nothing we couldn’t handle. There was a great balance of work and chill time. The host and other volunteers were so fun and we got to do so much with them that I wouldn’t have been able to do otherwise. Like camping up in the mountains or going to Las Bolas de Fuego. I would recommend to anyone who likes the outdoors and doesn’t mind living a little rugged.

The volunteering in the farm is super chill! You are in the middle of beautiful nature and your job is, to take care that the place stays in a good shape. To get around you get a moto for free which helps a lot and is definitely necessary (that means you should be able to drive). Francisco is a super open & friendly host and makes sure you have a good time.
The farm itself is pretty quiet. Perfect if you want to have time for yourself. You should just not be scared of spiders :)
And if you want to socialise you can go to Juayua or Santa Ana. Thanks for the volunteering!

I stayed on the farm and had a lovely time! Work consisted of weeding, cleaning, gardening, etc and was never too challenging. Since the farm stay is a 10-15 min drive from Juayua, Francisco gave the volunteers from the farm scooters :) Francisco is amazing and really makes you feel like family. In our two weeks, he took us camping, made team dinner, took us to local festivals, out to bars, etc. The farm definitely has a lot of bugs and isn't super glamorous, so do not expect the Ritz haha. Overall, I highly recommend volunteering at Rick's in Juayua or the farm!

The hostel truly became my home away from home. I was immediately welcomed with open arms by the best community. I would do it 1000x over again if I could, every day was great! I got to do work at the hostel and found the tasks to be very easy (cleaning/reception). Work is divided into shifts so you have the majority of your days off to explore the surrounding area and hangout with guests. Francisco is the best host and will take you under his wing, feeling like family by the end! There is no better way to get to know authentic El Salvador than by staying here, you won't regret it!!

I spent two weeks at Rick‘s Hostel and had an amazing time! Francisco and the other volunteers were super welcoming.
My work consisted of painting murals around the hostel and I was allowed to choose my working hours however worked best for me. There is so much to do around Juayúa and it’s a great place to practice your spanish!!

I had the best time of my life in Juayúa, the place and the people there are very special. I originally planned on staying for 2 weeks, but ended up staying for 5. Francisco is an incredibly kind an chill person, which is so much fun to work with. I had to work at the reception for 5 hours a day which was super chill and easy. Would recommend everyone to go there, especially if you like to party because the Hotsprings ladies night is so much fun!

The farmstay is excellent for those who want a quick nature break while travelling. There are so many waterfalls nearby, and the locals are incredibly friendly. You even get a free scooter to go visit the nearby cities. The animals were a delight, especially the baby pony! Highly recommend!

I really loved volunteering here. The farm is a bit outside of Juayua so the volunteers get motos to share to ensure transport. Mostly it's really calm around the farm, just the volunteers bringing the hostel in the best shape and from then and there some guests to take care of. Francisco is a really nice host and also the workers at the hostel in Juayua make you feel welcome and make working together easy.
Also Don Julio, the owner of the farm is I think the nicest and happiest person I've ever met. If you get up early he will teach you milking the goats and you can help feed the baby goats.
