My time at the hostel was absolutely amazing. The place was clean and comfortable, it's a very central walkable location, the owner is kind and welcoming, hands on, and helpful, the other volunteers were lovely also. This was a great opportunity to work a reasonable amount and still have time to connect with nature and experience Uvita. It felt like a real community and home away from home after a month. Highly recommend this opportunity to anyone & looking forward to going back someday.

I volunteered at the hostel for almost 2 months, and it truly became my home away from home!💛 Most guests and volunteers extend their stay here for a reason: it's very clean, spacious, comfortable, and the energy is amazing! Sander is a lovely person and will make sure you feel safe and respected throughout your entire stay, he really cares about the volunteers. You'll have lots of free time to explore the area or work remotely. So many wonderful friendships and memories!! Pets are the best part, I will miss them so much. I'll be back whenever I'm in Costa Rica again! :)

Volunteering here is an amazing opportunity. The hostel is peaceful, beautiful and super safe. it's a great location and the work is very reasonable. Sander, the host, is reliable, kind and a good communicator. Not a party hostel by any means, but can definitely be on the go certain nights.

I had an amazing experience at the hostel. The accommodation is super nice, and the bunk beds feel spacious and private with the curtains. You have plenty of space for cooking, studying/working, workouts or just chilling. The location is excellent for exploring Uvita, and you'll have more than enough time to do so between working shifts. So exciting getting to know people from around the world. Sander is an amazing host, I felt so welcome. Definitely going back if I'm ever in the area again!

I would 100% recommend volunteering at this hostel!! I truly had a lovely experience during my time here. Sander is great host - he has clear, reasonable hours, many recommendations for places to visit and things to do during your free time, and is always open to feedback. I loved the location - it is close to the town center, making it convenient for shopping, and right in the middle of the waterfall and river to the East and beach to the West. I met lots of wonderful travelers, and felt safe, comfortable, and respected my entire stay. If you are looking for a pura vida experience, it's here!

The hostel is the kind of hostel where almost every guest extends their stay. It's airy, clean and very easy to spend time relaxing in, which makes for a great social atmosphere. Sander is an excellent host who clearly communicates the simple tasks for the day and has some great tips for Uvita. He generously provides anything you might need to be comfortable, even bikes and a surfboard. After some morning cleaning, I'd pop across the road to the local fruit stall, ride through the surf town to the beach, catch some waves and be back in time for the afternoon check-ins. Pura vida.

My partner and I had a wonderful experience working at the hostel! Sander provided a welcoming atmosphere, and I felt trusted and respected during my time there. The tasks were clear and easy! Sander involved us in the making of weekly work schedules, so I felt that our needs were taken into consideration. The vibes were super laid back, which I appreciated! Sander was very helpful in ensuring that the volunteers had a fulfilling experience Uvita, providing recommendations and sometimes driving volunteers to local attractions! Great experience at Shipwrecked Hostel! Sander is an approachable and very kind host, always available to answer our questions and advise on activities. The work rhythm is great: 1 day of work for 3 days off, which allows plenty of free time to explore the surroundings! The dorm has 12 beds, so in terms of reception and cleaning it stays pretty cool, lots of free time even during our work day to enjoy the hostel's perks (hammocks, swings, yoga mats, mango tree, well-equipped kitchen for cooking). For a relaxed stay, I recommend it!
