I want to thank Dianne for giving me the guest house to explore Victoria through her volunteer and for trusting me, even though it was my first volunteer experience on this platform. This volunteer was from May 31 to June 21, and I'd like to wrap it up in these points: - Most of the activities were easy tasks, such as housekeeping and maintenance around her house - The communication with Dianne was excellent. However, I recommend always asking when you have a doubt and taking the initiative to propose new ideas. She's really open on that - The food and accommodation were really good 😊

Diane's house is the perfect place to explore Victoria. It's a short walk from the donwtown and the sea.
If you enjoy hiking, it's the place for you. During my stay, we did several routes and trips which allowed me to explore the island.
My chores vary from housekeeping, taking care of the kittens and maintenance on the house and vans so every day is different and never gets boring.
The schedules are not defined and vary depending on the workload, so there are days when more hours are done and others less.
My room was private and very cozy
You will fall in love with the vans and the cats.

Volunteering with Dianne was grounding and meaningful. Daily tasks include feeding, fresh water, litter cleaning and giving love to the cats — each with a unique personality. The room is simple but comfortable, and the calm nature around the house gives you space to reflect and be yourself. Dianne is resilient and caring, and her dedication to the cats and her work is inspiring. A great place if you love animals and want a peaceful, responsible experience.

My experience with Dianne was mixed. While she can be generous, letting volunteers borrow her van for a trip to Tofino and taking us hiking and out for sandwiches, the agreed conditions were not always respected. I worked two 10-hour days moving mattresses and furniture, which was not what I signed up for, and I only received one day off per week despite the listing advertising two. Communication was often challenging, and I was shouted at on two occasions. I frequently felt like I was walking on eggshells due to unclear expectations and the overall work environment.

Thanks for your honest feedback and it is super hard to work with people that say they have housecleaning skills and actually have none. Yes there are some long days and then others are short which is the balance. Days off can be taken any time and must be requested as every day is different and the schedules can change from day to day. Being here requires a level of flexibility and a willingness to go with the flow. Not for people who require a rigid set schedule.

If you enjoy peaceful surroundings and nature, this place is perfect. My first volunteering experience was with Dianne, and it was really great. She's super welcoming and made sure I felt comfortable with the work and during my free time. In my downtime, she took me hiking and to some the guest house natural spots, which made the experience even better. If you're into calm environments and nature, I'd definitely recommend this place.

My stay at Diannes place was a great experience! Her place in Victoria is perfectly located and beautiful. The van I’ve stayed in was cozy and the bed too god to get up in the morning. The work especially in the airbnbs was rewarding and left still enough free time for discovering the island what would never be possible for me without her van I could drive whenever needed. Furthermore she took me on beautiful hikes with her dogs. If you are willing to learn and are ready to be passionate at work I can highly recommend experiencing her Place

It was my first voluntary work and it was better than I expected. Dianne and her dogs were the guest house. She took me in a hike first week with an the guest house breakfast and she show me the city which I appreciate it too much. She was clear about what I need to do and we could communicate well. Theres so much to do and you have to be flexible because always is something going on. I didn bother that much because in exchange I had food, pets, a super cool van and a beautiful city to explore. My best part was working in the vans and get to know the island. Honestly, if a could I would have stay longer

My first volunteer experience here truly opened up my world! Dianne's a hardworking and energetic person, she's kind to me throughout my stay. The work wasn't too hard but it's a little bit tricky for me to plan ahead since I also worked remotely, and some days the flexible schedule drained my energy, but overall it was fine. I met many different kinds of people, and learned how to adapt and handle different situations. I loved staying in a van, surrounded by cute pups, cats, and beautiful nature. I would definitely come back with my driver's licence and explore the island with the van!

Dianne is a nice person but hard to understand directly, you need time to get how she works. It's an other volunteer who show me how to do the beds etc and it's strict, it must be very clean for the guests. I slept in a van it was cool ! The hours and days off are not respected but Dianne let us 1 week and then 4 days with the van so we had the chance to visit the island ! The work is hard sometimes but if you have the chance to discover the island then, it worth it. The place is very nice, peaceful and you can see a lot of bird (specially colibri). I recommend if you are not a stress person.
