Program Details

Please note: until spring 2027 we can only except people with their own place to sleep eg. Campervan, or who are willing to sleep in a tent (not ideal over winter!), due to our current volunteer wanting to stay long term.

We'll be working on our house and land for years to come, and think that hosting volunteers will be a wonderful way to enrich the experience by sharing our lifestyle and project with other people looking to make the most of their travels.
We're at the start of our project so there is lots to do. One of our main jobs is turning one of the barns into a holiday cottage, so you will need to be ok with quite physical work helping us to move heavy things around! If you have any skills in construction / electrics/ plumbing etc. then that is a bonus.
We have a large vegetable garden that we’ve just started and are learning on the job!
There is always general maintenance to do around the property and we have plenty of animals who need attention, as well as the kids of course!
We also need help creating social media videos and longer videos for YouTube to help build an online presence, so these digital skills would be very welcome!
You will have a private place to sleep in the form of a little wooden den in one of the barns, with mattress, power and light. You will also have access to an outdoor hot shower and toilet/sink downstairs in the farmhouse. We will provide food on work days - breakfast supplies in the outdoor kitchen then lunch and dinner we will have together.

Activities & Shift

We'll be working roughly between the hours of 9:30 and 3:30, around the kids' school times. But days off don't have to be weekends - we can be flexible.
It's unlikely that any two days will be the same!
In July & August it's the summer holidays, so things may be a bit different with the children around and we may be looking for more help taking care of them while continuing to work on the project.
This area is absolutely stunning - there is so much to see and do. But even just relaxing in the garden and taking in the mountain views after work can be a lovely thing to do. We have a little pool to cool off on hot days, a trampoline, ping pong table and hammocks for garden chillings. There is hiking, biking, climbing, wild swimming and more - all local to us. The local town of Aínsa is stunning and has all the amenities you might need. We'll support you in making the most of being in this area!

Rules

We like to find a balance of becoming 'part of the family', whilst also making sure everyone has a bit of their own space - we spend most of the day together working, and then tend to have a bit of down time separately while we settle the kids after school. But some afternoons we may find ourselves all hanging out outside - it varies day to day and depending on the time of year. On days off sometimes we do activities together with volunteers and sometimes we have separate plans - it also varies!
We ask that you are respectful of the house, the garden, and our way of life.
Please mind your language around the children and there is no smoking or vaping on the property.
Be open and honest with us - clear communication is key to a happy experience!
