Diego and Adriana were the most wonderful hosts. I really enjoyed my week here and fel very safe here as woman. I really encourage you to get to know the hosts and their backstory. Invite them to join you for dinner! I'll never forget watching a turtle lay her eggs on the beach from inches away. Advice: Pack x3 the amount of bug spray that you think you'll need. You will need it 24/7. I recommend ordering a high concentration of deet such as 50%. I would also recommend bringing an extensive medical kit with you for different minor ailments. There is not a pharmacy nearby.

They make sure your days are full of unique experiences while they are also willing to meet you where you and take things at your pace. As a first-time traveller outside of the Caribbean, this experience has changed my perception of life completely. The hosts (Andrea & Diego) were absolutely amazing and from the time I stepped foot at the place, i felt right at home. The meals were delightful and the experience was perfect. The locals were heart warming and I felt safe at all times. The work at the reserve is significantly important for marine and terrestrial ecosystems, and they do an amazing job doing so. I went to the reserve after another volunteer program in Ecuador, with lower expectations considering the great experience I'd already had, but I was surprised. First of all, Andrea and Diego are just fantastic people. With them you'll learn a lot about the reserve, and if you're lucky, you'll be able to share this experience with other volunteers or with local people who work with them for short periods. The place is absolutely amazing, and I'm sure you'll fall in love with it like I did. My advice is to plan for a sufficiently long stay, and to fully enjoy this experience.

Andrea and Diego were super welcoming. I loved the location. I felt so immersed in nature and in the culture. I learned so much that I will forever be thankful for. I had an amazing group as well. I loved everything we did and the variety. Honestly it was such an incredibly fulfilling experience.
