I planned on volunteering for a month, but Evangeline communicated to me with disrespect and a condescending tone in the volunteer group chat, so I decided to leave on the fifth night. It was unexpected, and it made me feel emotionally unsafe to continue working there.
She said that she had been observing me and that I only had one last chance to stay, even though my cleaning contributed to them getting 10/10 reviews for cleaning. She became extremely toxic by demanding I report every single detail of my movement to another volunteer and said she was going to watch me work the following day

The other volunteers were really nice, the owners were nice, however we hardly saw or spoke to them. They just communicated to us mostly through a staff WhatsApp chat where copious amounts of voice-notes and messages were sent. The tasks were extremely easy and extremely boring perhaps because it was low season. Breakfast in the morning was great and the neighbourhood is nice and safe

I volunteered at the hostel and planned to stay longer. The property is beautiful and the tasks matched the listing. Volunteers receive WiFi, two days off, and breakfast during 8am-10am. Unfortunately I experienced what appeared to be bedbug bites in the girls hostel area. When I raised the concern it was dismissed as a possible allergy and not investigated, which made me uncomfortable staying. After the situation escalated I decided it was best to leave early and I was later marked as a no-show despite being present. Future volunteers may want to confirm sleeping conditions before committing.

Juan and Eve were very kind from the first day, the schedules are respected and the tasks are easy to carry out. The breakfast is delicious and the beds and the pool are very comfortable. Juan and Eve are flexible with the schedules and they helped my partner and me to have the same days off so we could go explore the beaches, the ruins, nearby cenotes, and Playa del Carmen and Cozumel. Definitely highly recommended!!

We felt very good at the hostel, it was our first experience as volunteers and, to be honest, we learned a lot, the tasks were simple, the schedules and days off were respected, the breakfast was very good and they give it to you every day, even during your breaks. Juan and Eve were excellent hosts, very kind and warm, they have a very beautiful family, thanks for opening the doors to us, we were very happy!!

The hours agreed are kept, the tasks are easy to perform, the included breakfast is spectacular. The hostel is located near the center and the bus terminal, so it is easy to move around to different places. I highlight the coworking area for those who travel as digital nomads, and I am very grateful to Eve and Juan who allowed me to organize my shifts so that I can meet my work schedule and the flexibility with the days off. In the season we went, there was a lot of sargassum, so we couldn't enjoy the beaches, but it gave us the opportunity to visit several cenotes.
