I am very grateful for the two months I spent at Kinlay Hostel. I met a variety of interesting people, and my English definitely improved during this time. The workload is fair, and sometimes—if the job is done as required—shifts can even finish ahead of schedule. The managers and supervisors are demanding yet understanding, fostering a work environment that is both professional and flexible. In addition to spacious common areas for enjoying free time, the hostel boasts an excellent location in the city center, right next to transport links for exploring beautiful Ireland. I couldn't be happy!

Volunteering at the hostel was truly an amazing experience. The staff and other volunteers were extremely welcoming, and I felt quickly at home.
The hours were like described, and the work was fair and as expected. It was very easy to explore the rest of Ireland during your time off!

Had the most amazing time at Kinlay. Big shoutout to Aisling who is an absolute gem of a coordinator. She made sure we were felt at ease at the hostel and made herself available whenever we had questions, requests or feedback. She was upfront and transparent about the workload expected of us ( maybe a bit more than most volunteering experiences), but it was all very manageable, straightforward and it was a pleasure to work with the amazing staff there. Galway is stunning, ideal to experience local life and it's ideally located if you want to explore more of Ireland. Couldn't have been happier!

The other volunteers were also amazing and the two months there allowed me to connect with locals and explore other parts of Ireland. The facilities are also top-notch! As mentioned by past volunteers in other reviews, the work is a little bit more than I have experienced in other volunteering, but the tasks are simple. Aisling is very flexible with scheduling, which was really helpful. Reception staff are also very supportive and the facilities are very clean and nice. Galway is also super fun and you will meet amazing volunteers and locals!

My time at the hostel was so amazing. I have literally nothing but the best to say about them! The hours are fair and so is the work. I will say the housekeeping shift is the most tiring of all the jobs but easy 💪. The volunteers and professionals staff welcomed me with open arms and made me feel at home 🤗! The facilities are very well kept, the free breakfast is great and there is so much to explore in Galway. I hope to come back to volunteer or stay as a guest! Thank you for everything 💜 much love! I miss you all already!

I loved my time at Kinlay hostel! The work load is a bit more than other hostels Ive volunteered at but the location and facilities really make it worth it! Aisling is super lovely and is really accommodating. I would definitely recommend this host! Thanks so much for the experience

Mixed experience. The social side was great: friendly volunteers and some staff, and a very central location that makes it easy to make friends and explore the city. Work-wise, it was poor. The host seems to see the program as cheap labor. The room is tiny and overcrowded, breakfast is hard to get on breakfast or night shifts (finishing at 2–4 a.m.), and laundry comes after guests. Night shifts mean handling drunk guests, fights and conflicts, which isn't fair given the conditions. This goes against the spirit of Worldpackers, which isn't meant to be a regular job.
