Program Details

Great to learn or improve your Portuguese!

Attention! We live far from the city center and public transportation is limited. But we go to Embu das Artes once a day and we can give you a ride when we’re there.

We prefer two people, couples or friends, so they can keep each other entertained when the family is busy. But we also accept people by themselves

Come visit the city of Embu das Artes and help us care for a family member; André, my father, is a man with cancer and mobility difficulties. We’re looking for someone who can keep him company, help him move around with a walker to certain places and other occasional caregiving tasks when my mother is out.

We also look for someone who can do light housework and gardening, to take care of the agroecological garden that I keep outside the house.

There will be days when you just need to help pick up certain objects and chat with the family, since my brother handles the more intimate care.

André is a man who has traveled a lot and has a lot of experience in construction, life and speaks fluent English. This is a great opportunity if you want to improve or learn Portuguese and want to live with a Brazilian family.

You will also live with:
Renata, 62 years old, who runs a pet hotel, loves to chat and teach Brazilian recipes and culture.
Kim, my 26-year-old brother who loves Nintendo and wants to make new friends.

We participate in cultural collectives that offer free classes that we can take you to if we’re in Embu at the times we’re there. We have workshops such as African drum percussion, dance, capoeira, belly dance among others.

Activities & Shift

We’re looking for someone to help with activities around the house, fetch objects, and help you get up from the chair.

If you have experience with caregiving therapies, that would be an advantage. For conversation and companionship

We’re looking for a patient, creative, attentive person who wants to make new friends

Gardening, to take care of the garden and the outdoor vegetable garden.

Rules

There will be food and our own kitchen, but you are expected to cook your own meals.
The family also cooks together.
