What an amazing experience i had working and staying at the refuge. Sally has changed the lives of these dogs and given them so much love and care. I fell in love with every single dog and found it so hard to leave! The refuge is great and in a good location. Right next to the beach, has a few shops nearby and there is a bus stop right outside the refuge. I worked with some great volunteers and the local volunteers that come to walk the dogs are all so lovely. I am already planning my next trip back and look forward to working with Sally again. She is a 5 star host.

So far my best volunteering experience ever ❤️ if you love dogs more than anything, your heart will be so full everyday by seeing how happy and well taken care of the dogs are, it doesn't feel like you're working and you won't want to leave! I wish I could've stayed longer. I didn't have the chance to meet Sally but she is such an inspiration for the incredible work she's doing. Every other volunteer I met was an incredible person and I'm so grateful I got to meet them, they made the experience even better!

The work with the animals was very rewarding. In the mornings, we would take the dogs for walks on the beach, which gave me the opportunity to meet many local people. Sally is a superwoman. I honestly don't know how she manages to take care of everything. Seeing her dedication to the shelter was something I deeply admired. Pluto, Hazel, Misty, Snoopy, Kami, June, Perla, Petra, Paco, Trixie, Leo, Finn, Lilly you will always have a special place in my heart. Veggies, keep in mind: you will have to cook and prepare meat for the dogs, so make sure you are comfortable with this before signing up

I am very grateful for the opportunity to gain my first volunteering experience at Patas. It was a real pleasure to be part of the team and to have the chance to make a real difference whilst travelling! It was a bit of a challenge at first to take responsibility for so many dogs, as I’d never had any experience with dogs before, but the other volunteers were very kind and considerate and always helped me. I truly admire the good intentions and the love they all have for the poor street dogs and I hope they continue to receive plenty of support so they can keep making the world better :))

Volunteering at the shelter was incredible!! This was my first Worldpackers experience and I am so glad I got to spend it taking care of the cutest dogs in the cutest town in Costa Rica. You will fall in love with the people and the place so quickly!! Sally is an amazing host and such an inspiring individual. Learning from her was amazing. Definitely would come back again!! Sally is an extraordinary person—so kind and genuinely dedicated to every single dog in her care. You can immediately see how much love and effort she puts into giving them the best life possible. The dogs are incredibly well cared for, and it was heartwarming to see them all living happily together. If we could have stayed forever, we would have! Although the accommodation is quite rustic, you quickly stop caring because you become so attached to the dogs. The experience I had in the shelter was great! The tasks were very clear and organized, and it was a pleasure to work for these incredible dogs! Each one of them has a beautiful personality that I could discover little by little. Although I only could stay a week, I developed a beautiful bond with them! Sally is doing a great job giving them another opportunity in life. If I could do it again I would come back 100%.
