Susie and her family has welcomed me warmly to their home in Shanghai. Diandian has really good English skills and an energetic kid. We mixed fun activities while doing our lessons. Thanks to Susie, I was able to meet other locals in the community and gave me a better perspective of the life in Shanghai. The hours are quite reasonable and Susie is flexible with the schedule, which I greatly appreciate. Thank you so much for this immersive experience that I’ll never forget.

I was with Susie for about 2 months as an English tutor. I was living at her parents' in her hometown in Xiangtan. It was in a rural area, but I got the full Chinese experience and was welcomed as a family member by her parents. I got 3 meals a day and a floor for myself. My tutoring experience was great and I could do in-person and online lessons. I would recommend Susie as a host and don't forget to have an open mind for new experiences.

The stay was great! It was my first time volunteering abroad so I was a bit nervous about it. Susie is very welcoming host as well as her family. The grandma's cooking was great, the home and my room were cozy and everyone were really helping. I always had a schedule for the week. Sometimes the schedule was changing, but still all the changes could be discussed and adapted for you. My main focus was on conducting private English lessons for children and teens and I also had an opportunity to work at a kindergarten with toddlers! Thanks for the good vibes and full immersion into culture!

Very disappointed. Not as advertised. Hours and tasks not reflective of description. Poor living condition that stunk of cigarette smoke daily. Stay was canceled during the evening without advising me. Found out when returning from a lesson the next day, after check-out hours. I was asked to be dishonest and withold information from clients. I do not at all recommend.

Stayed at Susie's place for 5 weeks and really enjoyed it. Having the opportunity to live with a Chinese family and immerse yourself in real Chinese culture itself makes the homestay worth it. Meanwhile, Susie understands cultural differences and is very adaptable. I recommend staying at Susie's for a longer duration as it will allow you to develop a closer relationship with Susie and her very kind family, and make the stay more worthwhile. As my first worldpackers experience, it couldn't have gone much better-highly recommend.

This experience was really great. I was received in their home in Shanghai (上海) and then moved to Dalian (大连). They have always been respectful, welcoming and really put effort on offering a good place to stay, as well that they spent time to teach me about Northern and general culture, food and history of China. I totally recommend this volunteering for someone passioned for education and trying to get involved more deeply with Chinese life style.

⸻ I really felt at home during my stay here. Susie is incredibly kind and welcoming, and I had the chance to get to know her lovely family as well. Her mother cooked us some delicious meals that made me feel so cared for. I also spent time with the little boy, who is not only very smart but also so passionate about soldiers—it was truly fun teaching him, and I actually learned a lot from him too! This experience was warm, meaningful, and unforgettable. Thank you so much for everything!

I had a good time with the kids teaching them Tennis and piano at their grandparents house near Hangzhou. At times it definitely felt like that there was not a lot to do in the village and communication usually functioned via Translator app. Everyone involved, from the kids to the grandparents and parents were super kind, welcoming and accommodating. If you want to really know how day to day life in China feels like, this is an amazing experience.

Susie was really helpful in helping me obtaining my visa and with anything I needed during my stay. I would recommend it to those that want to practice Chinese and/or learn about every-day life. She may change plans last-minute, but everything can be discussed and agreed upon.
