I had a beautiful time at the guest house! Thanks to Tomoya, Momoka and Daichi I always felt very welcome and could ask them for help whenever I needed something. The work was super easy and fair and afterwards you can enjoy the onsen or explore the beautiful surroundings. I especially loved going to the river right in front of the staff house, visiting nearby villages, shrines, temples, and hiking parts of the guest house Kodo. It's such a special and peaceful place and I really enjoyed my time there. I would definitely recommend staying here especially if you love nature & rural areas!

The guest house is an amazing place to stay! I stayed a month and if you're looking for somewhere to slow down and reconnect with nature I would 100% recommend it! The staff working at the guest house are all absolutely lovely and really take care of you and make sure you have everything you need, getting to know each of them and my fellow volunteer was the highlight of this entire trip <3

The guest house is an amazing place to volunteer! The team is incredibly welcoming, kind, and friendly. The tasks are easy, almost meditative. I also got to work a few shifts at the local bar, which was amazing. Preparing drinks and food, serving, and washing dishes—all in a very relaxed atmosphere with wonderful people. the guest house Onsen is a special place where like-minded people meet and share their thoughts and values. I feel lucky to have experienced it. When the manager found out I had trouble sleeping because of a musty smell in my room, he immediately took action to fix it. Thanks the guest house :)

If you want to experience rural Japan and traditional japanese living then come here. The nature is surreal. However the best part is the people. The staff are so incredibly kind and accommodative. They're all very social and speak English. I lived at the staff house which is a 15-20 minute walk back to the guest house. Theres a beautiful river near the staff house to chill at. Cleaning wasn't hard however cleaning the ground floor dorms was a tad daunting due to my height. The bar shift was very fun and simple. The people and environment was simply amazing and I'd love to come back someday.

He was very sociable, quickly became friends with the other staff, and made the workplace atmosphere enjoyable.
He was cooperative and responsible at work, and helped us a lot.
Although he is still young, he has a strong ability to consider other people's feelings, and I would like to work with him again if I have the opportunity. And the pancakes he makes are 5-star quality!!
I look forward to your future success.Arigato Russell

I could not recommend this place enough (giving this place 5 stars will never be enough when it deserves every star in the galaxy) Having spent two months in Japan before coming here and having had some difficult experiences with other Workaway and Worldpackers jobs I was about ready to give up but coming to the guest house not only more than made up for the previous experiences, it made my whole trip. If you have the opportunity to come, then I promise from the bottom of my heart you must because this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience it is so peaceful, lovely and wonderful.

My expérience was exactly as promised. The team was incredibly welcoming and generous, I'm so grateful for meeting and spending time with all of them. You'll have your own room in a staff house, which is about 15 minutes from the hostel, the walk is beautiful. It's located right next to the river if you want to go for a swim or listen to the birds singing. I loved the daily Onsen, meeting monkeys regularly, walking through the forest and enjoying the region. Even if the guest house is remote it's well connected to explore. The work is easy and everyone work together. Arigato gozaimasu❤️

Expectations for this project were high, and yet they were exceeded! Without a doubt, it was one of the best months of my life. The area where this guest house is located is one of the richest places in nature, culture, spirituality, and history I've ever been. The working hours are very few, and the days off are numerous! The schedule was perfect; even on working days, there was still time to do many things during the afternoon! But the best thing about this project were the people. During the month I spent doing my project, I felt at home! I really recommend this project!!

The guest house is a gem of a place! Hidden away in the Kii mountains this onsen village is one of the oldest in Japan and surrounded by the guest house Kodo trail as well as being a short bus journey from the guest house Hongu Taisha. The area is amazing! the guest house was fantastic! Everyone is so kind and friendly and really makes you feel at home. The work load is very manageable and gives you plenty of time to enjoy the onsens on the property as well as the all the small villages and walks surround it. I had an amazing time in the guest house thanks to Momoka and Tomoya :) I would recommend to anyone!

It is an amazing opportunity to get away from the busy city life and surround yourself with the beauty of Japanese nature. One has time to simply "exist", the duties are not hard to follow and you are left with almost the whole day for yourself so it definitely depend on you, how you want to spend your free time. The atmosphere of this place is truly hard to describe (in the best way possible), it is magical, breath taking, sooooo calming and the fact that you get your own cosy little room, chefs kiss!!!! I can not recommend this place enough.

Working with Kang San in the bar was such a pleasure. We always had a good time at work but also outside of work when he took me for little trips, he always made delicious meals for me and it was overall a really good time.
The Onsen at the hostel is also great for relaxing after your shift and everyone at the hostel is really nice!
One downside you should be aware of is that this is an extremely remote place. If you don't have a driver's license in japan, you won't be able to move around a lot. The hostel does have bicycles if you want to go to a nearby village.
