Program Details

Since volunteer stays are usually short, it is important to make the most of the time we share. For this reason, we ask all volunteers to read the information sent carefully before their arrival. This allows us to build a shared understanding of the place, the project, and the role they are applying for.
It is also important to keep in mind that the work does not start from zero. The B&B is a project in progress, with a history, established processes, prior work, and current priorities. We value new ideas and perspectives, but we expect that first the context is understood before proposing significant changes.
The first three days of work are especially important. During this time we expect you to observe, ask questions, learn about current needs, and understand how your skills can contribute to the project. At the end of the third day we will ask you to present a preliminary proposal describing how you would like to develop your work, what your contribution would be, and how this could strengthen the project's current objectives.
These first days also allow both the volunteer and the B&B team to evaluate whether our expectations, modes of communication, methods of work, and priorities are sufficiently aligned to build a productive collaboration. Experience has shown us that this early clarity benefits both parties and avoids investing time and energy in processes that are unlikely to yield significant results. In other words, it is the moment when we jointly decide whether to continue or not with the volunteer agreement.

Activities & Shift

Two or more volunteers at the same time is ideal when I must be away for one or more days. If there is only one volunteer, we will agree in advance on the organization of shifts to guarantee the operation of the B&B.

Tasks
In my absence, confirm with each guest the breakfast schedule the night before (between 7:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.), prepare it and serve it.
When I am present, support breakfast service, plating when necessary, and the activities that require support at that time.
Wash the dishes after breakfast and reorganize the kitchen and dining room.
Open and close the door during the arrival and stay of guests.
Prepare the rooms as soon as possible after each check-out, following our cleaning and setup guide.
Keep common spaces clean and organized for guests.
Guide guests on the destination and available experiences. The B&B provides the base information; you are expected to first consult the available tools and, if after a conscious search doubts persist, consult with the coordination.
When previously agreed, perform night shift to welcome guests. Usually entries are until 11:00 p.m.; exceptionally and with authorization from coordination they may extend until 12:30 a.m.
Contribute to the responsible use of resources, ensuring that unnecessary lights stay off.
Prepare and take down hammocks according to weather conditions while there are guests.
Support other tasks related to the daily operation that may arise, always focused on maintaining the quality of the guest experience and the smooth operation of the B&B.
