I would have extended my stay at the hostel, it always felt like a home, with a family atmosphere and good vibes. You meet a lot of people and, in general, it is very calm every day, there are many workshops and ways to immerse yourself more in the Bacalar community, learning new things. The meals were always good for the staff. If you are responsible you can receive the same in return :) Thank you for everything, I hope to return and see how the hostel has grown.

The experience was really good. Geo is cool, and the hostel is really beautiful and comfortable. It is close to the lagoon, which is gorgeous, and in fact everything is nearby. Communication was lacking at times—for example with the food, I would have liked that from day 1 there had been a note that there is a budget for the meals and that it should say how much the budget is, but well, those are details. Everything else was great.

Amazing volunteering and lovely people! 🫰🏼💫 The hostel is a home away from home, it has a great energy and many amenities such as bicycles, kayaks and free tours. The location is one of the best, just steps from the lagoon. Room with air conditioning and only for volunteers 👌🏻 The meals are varied and the managers are always on top of the stock. We all cook and share. From the month I was here, I extended it to 3 months. Bacalar has many opportunities and is growing quite a lot but it maintains a very calm environment 🍃 Thanks Giovanni and Hann 💜

ElMar Hostel was a beautiful experience. I prepared breakfast every morning and spent time with the team Giovanni, Han and Meli. The convivencia was very nice: we shared meals, activities with guests, and even improvised music (I on guitar, Giovanni on sax).
The hostel is comfortable, clean, with a good kitchen, air conditioning, fast wifi, bicycles and a kayak. The location is ideal and the environment is peaceful, with very respectful people. They also welcomed me into their culture, such as at the altar of Noche de Muertos, and gave me a very special farewell in Argentine style 🇦🇷. I recommend it.

I was able to connect with nature! Being close to the Bacalar Lagoon allowed me to swim every day. The activities consist of cleaning and gardening (5 hours daily, 6 days); includes breakfast, lunch, bicycle rental, kayak use, and occasional tours around the lagoon. It is a very jovial environment, where volunteers and staff cook together and we integrate into local activities, living very fun moments. I recommend planning your free days well to explore the incredible Maya ruins and consider a personal pantry, there are local shops nearby.

Elmar welcomed us with open arms, ready to help us with our crafts, encouraging us to spread them in the town. Always with a good disposition to listen to proposals. Gio, Han and Meli are such sweethearts; they treated us like family, we had fun, we learned about regional food and we finished our stay with a barbecue all together. We carry them in our hearts forever. In addition, the hostel is one of the most beautiful places to stay, close to the lagoon, with a beautiful aesthetic. I would return to Bacalar and I would stay at Elmar again 🇲🇽💕🇦🇷
