Program Details

You will share a staff room with up to three other volunteer staff. We offer free breakfast in the cafe each morning (except Wednesdays because we are closed), and we sometimes invite staff for dinners together as a family when we have available time. All staff are welcome to feel at home and spend time in the guesthouse lounge or in the public area of our cafe whenever they want. We provide free drinks from the cafe anytime (great coffee!)

Activities & Shift

The activities will mostly consist of help clean tables, serving meals and drinks, and cleaning (wiping counters, sweeping, dishes.... lots of dishes...)
If you are more deeply interested in cafe work, we may also teach you how to make more advanced drinks or food.

The shifts will either be afternoon (around 1pm-6pm) or evening time (6pm-11pm). Sometimes I'll request to change the hours a little depending on what we have going on that day, but of course we will be considerate of your plans (if you already made plans to go out hiking, etc).

You will have 3 days off each week, and we will try to put all three days together so you can have longer trips exploring the area.

Rules

Staff is welcome to hang out in our guesthouse lounge, but cannot invite non-guests into the guesthouse.
At all times, be respectful of cafe customers and guesthouse guests.
When spending time in our guesthouse, you'll need to follow the regular guesthouse rules, such as being quiet after 10pm, cleaning up after yourself, etc.
Pay close attention to cleaning after yourself when using kitchen, showers, restrooms. Almost everywhere outside of your bedroom is shared space by either guests or our family.
The entire building is non-smoking, but people can smoke outside in front of our cafe.
Staff may use laundry machines free of charge.
