Program Details
We are a working cattle ranch where we raise our own cattle and make our own feed. We are looking for volunteers who are willing to help with the everyday work that comes with running a ranch and who are comfortable working both independently and alongside us.
We ask that you be up and ready for the day by 8:30 a.m., as the days can start early here. You can expect to work around 5 to 6 hours a day, with 1 or 2 days off each week. The work will depend on the season and what needs to be done. Some days may involve cattle, fencing, yard work, feeding, cleaning, or other outdoor jobs, while other days may include indoor work such as cooking, baking, cleaning, organizing, or helping with projects.
We only host one volunteer at a time, so you will be our only volunteer during your stay. We expect our volunteers to be respectful, responsible, willing to learn, and comfortable being part of our daily routine. You don’t need to have ranch experience, as we are happy to show you how to do the jobs.
In return, we want you to feel welcome and enjoy your time here. Depending on availability, you will stay either in a room in the house or in the camper. You will have access to a shower and washing machine, and we are happy to take you into town when we are heading that way or when you need to pick up something.
During your free time, there are lots of activities you can enjoy, including horseback riding, kayaking, hiking, archery, darts, board games, cards, cooking and baking, and cooking over the fire with s’mores or roasted marshmallows.
We look forward to sharing our ranch life with you, showing you what daily life is like on a working cattle ranch, and giving you the opportunity to experience something new while you are here.
