We have a wonderful experience in the hostel & the hostel. Kentaro is a nice and kind person and all the staff. We have activities in housekeeping, it was easy and fun. The place is beautiful with a great positive vibes. The town around is amazing, a lot of nature, mountains, bicycle roads, beach, and incredible sunsets. Also you have some restaurants to try delicious seafood meals. Kentaro provide us bicycles to visit around. The shrine and a 3.000 years old tree was spectacular (5 minutes walk from the hostel). We recommend this place to someone who loves nature, connect with local people.

My volunteering experience in Omishima with Kentaro was amazing. The work was simple, well organized, and easy to complete. The place is very clean, and the island is peaceful and beautiful. I especially loved the sunsets, the waterfall, the mountains, and the onsen. It was a wonderful experience, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

Omishima island is a gorgeous place to live by nature. The locals are unbelievingly kind and welcoming. Kentaro is a great host and the work is easy. Both the guesthouse and living space are clean, tidy and organised.

Ken-san is a great host! We stayed at the shared house that is a 10 minute walk from the hostel café. The room was very big and comfortable with an A/C equiped. The job itself is very simple, if you're fast it won't take you longer than 2 hours. As for what to do there is a wine shop, a beer distillery, a wild boar ramen shop, and several other restaurants than open some days and for a short while. Be prepared to use cash because of the places here won't take cards, maybe Paypay. There are 2 supermarkets and a home store in town, as well as a 24 hour Lawson. We loved Omishima!

My experience as a volunteer here was much more than just work — it was a deeply meaningful cultural and human experience that I will always remember with great affection. From the very first day, I felt welcomed and had the chance to share many special moments with both the team and the local people in the town. In addition to learning about hotel operations and guest service, I had the opportunity to take part in local activities that made the experience even more authentic and memorable. I helped harvest fruit, learned about local traditions, and attended community festivals

We volunteered 3 weeks in the hostel, Omishima. The guest house is perfectly clean, the guests were respectful and we met nice people there. Kentaro and his team warmly welcomed us and allowed us to meet their friends from other guest houses in Omishima. That being said, I think it's important for the future volunteers to know that moving in Omishima is not easy : no bus can take you to the north or south of the island and it could refrain you from accessing museums, shrines, ferry port or to join the events that could be organized on the island. the hostel is definitely the perfect place to chill!

If you love nature, this is the perfect place for you. The work is not hard & often times I got to finish earlier than expected. In my free time, I would go for walks/hikes (the sunset views are stunning!), visit the seaside onsen and do day trips to nearby cities. I lived in a share house owned by Ken & got to hang with the loveliest housemates. Ken is a sincere and warm host & even hosted a party for the volunteers during our time there. This is for sure one of the best, if not the best, volunteering experiences I've had in Japan - I'd most definitely recommend!

Ken is an incredible host, he's super kind and welcoming! The hours are extremely fair and once you have finished your work for the day you can go and explore the islands. The hostel is really clean and in great condition, meaning the cleaning process is really smooth. All the staff at the hostel are really welcoming and friendly. Ken is the type of person you want to work hard for, we couldn't recommend the hostel enough, it is the perfect spot for volunteers!

Kentaro and his family made us feel very welcome from the start. They are very nice! The work itself was easy, which gave us plenty of free time during the day. Since we work remotely, it was perfect to balance work and enjoying the island.

Omishima is a quiet island surrounded by nature. It’s a peaceful place where you can slow down and rest. The main activities are biking around the island, visiting nearby islands, and hiking in the mountains. There isn’t a lot to do, but we really appreciated the break from the busy world.
