In my view, a person who isn't committed to volunteering is looking for a place to rest.

I was very well received and I am grateful to have shared this time with this family. It was good to be able to assist Marina with taking care of the house and the children.
I know that taking care of a house is quite hard work, which is why I came prepared to help with whatever was needed. The routine can be quite intense at times, and I greatly admire the work of mothers who can sustain all of that.
I also ate very delicious meals and felt welcomed throughout the stay. The children are very affectionate, and it was lovely to be with them:)

Marina is a nice person and the children are very cute, but the family isn't prepared to host volunteers, the house needs a lot of organization, routine and especially hygiene. The rooms for volunteers are quite problematic; everything is very dirty and we had to clean every day before doing anything, especially the kitchen and bathrooms. Unfortunately we couldn't stay until the end of the agreed stay. I hope there will be improvements in the space for future volunteers and especially for the children.

They spoke badly of the other host from the previous Selavi volunteering, very jealous of the husband, saying that the host had

My volunteer experience at Casa Fênix in Paraty was simply amazing and deeply transformative. Being there was to live the essence of volunteering in practice: helping, sharing, learning and coexisting in a real and genuine way.

At the same time, volunteering is also challenging — and that is part of the process. Living with people who are different, with stories, worldviews and diverse ideologies, requires openness, humility and willingness to overcome internal prejudices. It isn't always easy, but that's exactly where true growth happens.

Marina is a dear person and the children are precious; we feel at home in the house and in the day-to-day routine. We suggest paying a little attention at the reception, to the first impression of the space, and to the organization of tasks and demands.
