The days at Juan's house were incredible! The learnings about what we know as 'garbage', compost, mosaic art and many other varied topics were very enriching; there's no doubt I am not the same after this experience, now I am much more conscious! Thank you, Juan, for sharing your knowledge with us, your home with the children and your beautiful city because yes! in addition to learning, we greatly enjoyed the beautiful places Serra Grande offers. I feel super grateful and fortunate; it has been an experience I will carry forever in my heart

Spending these days with Juan was an enormous joy, we had family moments that deeply marked us.
Volunteering at the project was exactly what we had envisioned when we began our journey as volunteers across Brazil.
It involved a lot of our commitment to give ourselves body and soul to the work and purpose that Juan carries with the composting and education about waste destination.
He has two children who are kind and intelligent, with a contagious energy.
Juan is extremely empathetic and generous; he cared for us as if we were his children.
You will always be in our memory 💚

I am very grateful to Juan and his family for the time I spent at his place. Juan is a very good person and he created a responsible space with almost zero waste that I found super inspiring. I learned a lot about composting and eco-brick.

Your house is very pleasant, fully open and in the countryside with many beautiful birds. Blessings to him for his future projects, I hope everything will happen and work out. Gratitude ☀️

I feel very lucky to have met Juan and to stay with him and his two beautiful children. Juan is a very innovative person, always finding new uses for materials that others consider trash and living a near-zero-waste lifestyle, something I admire and would like to achieve. Although we caught a strong flu in the middle, we were able to get a good sense of the projects he has in progress and how he uses his community and finds materials to use in building his house that would otherwise be thrown away, damaging our lands and seas. Thank you very much, Juan and family!

Juan is a generous person with environmental awareness. He has many interesting projects underway. The volunteer can get involved in tasks related to composting, planting, weeding, and bioconstruction. He offered us a room with a private bathroom and we share many meals. Juan has two adorable children who can keep you busy if you enjoy interacting with kids. His house is simple but comfortable and well located. It is equipped with solar panels, a rainwater harvesting system, and a sewage system that uses bananas, completely off-grid. I recommend it!

Juan and his little Âmbar and Inti are a charming family who welcomed us with warmth and respect. Juan's life story is very inspiring, as is his current project of composting and environmental education. We stayed for a short time and could not work on their agroforestry. We recommend staying and learning! And there is the opportunity to visit Serra Grande- Uruçuca-BA, a beautiful region!

It was much more than an exchange, it was the building of a friendship. Juan and his sons are incredible. The work is quiet and Juan is flexible about activities and schedules. The facilities are comfortable. Juan cooks very well, I learned a lot about Colombian cuisine. I enjoyed the place a lot. If you have the opportunity to do this volunteer work, I highly recommend it; you will learn a lot about how we handle waste.

I am very happy that I have had my first Worldpackers experience here at the project! Juan and his family welcome me with a lot of warmth. I really enjoyed the opportunity to learn more about composting, bio-construction, and the sustainable cycles we have to deal with our waste. It was so nice to contribute to this work. I found it satisfying and important to do. Juan cooked tasty meals and gave the volunteer the freedom to use the kitchen whenever he wanted. It was also very special to spend time and play with his dear children :)! I already miss these two weeks 🥰
