The two weeks that I spent with Conor and Meri were a great experience. I needed a few days to acommodate to the quiet of the surroundings, but after that time felt that this must be one of the most peaceful places on earth. I loved the nature, the chickens, the food was amazing (I already miss your cooking, meri), I liked that the days were structured with meals and teabreaks roughly the same time every day. The work was just hard enough to make me tired in the evenings. Thank you, Meri and Conor, I hope everything works out for you. I wish you all the best, Swaantje.

Through this genuine experience I gained inspiration that will stay with me a lifetime. Conor and Mari are kind and humble people who were truly wonderful hosts. The meals we had with them were the best food of our entire trip! Their dedication to living sustainably was nothing short of impressive. The work was challenging and allowed me an opportunity to learn a lot about building. I enjoyed our nightly discussions around culture, world views, life, and art. I left with new knowledge, as well as great book recommendations. It was wonderful to participate in this method of exchange. Thanks!

Conor and Meri are truly wonderful and amazing people. We spent a week with them and came away very inspired by the sustainable lifestyle they are building for themselves, currently growing their own food, living simply, and working to build this house using all-natural materials. While there were times when the work was exhausting and frustrating, I'll always cherish the moments we spent every day sharing meals and enjoying the silence of those mountains around us before and after the work. Thank you both for everything!

This was my first experience with Worldpackers. Meri and Conor were very welcoming and kind. I was able to practice my English, meet other volunteers and have a great time with them. The accomodation was rustic but I got used for it quickly! The eco-house constructing project is very interesting and progressing little by little despite the everychanging weather. The food was very good, and if you like drinking tea, you will love this experience :) Thank you !

Conor and Meri opened their home to me and we shared many stories and laughs. This beautiful area in the mountains provides a true experience of pioneering sustainability and exercising eco friendly practices. I felt I could freely ask questions and it was easy to engage and become a part of the team. I can full heartedly recommend the experience to anyone looking to expand their knowledge of building techniques, gardening, or Irish culture and history :)

This was the worst nightmare in my life as a volunteer. I was there for 5 days, but my volunteering was supposed to be for 8 days. I remember I was working hard with Conor on an interesting project building an ecological house. Conor is hothead person; I have talked with him about this, and he changed after that. Suddenly, Meri and Conor said they wanted me out of their house. I was very surprised. I asked them why. The answer was, "You are unhappy here, and we don't like people like you". So, they gave me 25 euros and left me in Dundalk. After that, I slept on a bus til my next volunteering.

I apologised for becoming frustrated but everyone has their limits. It's not true that "we don't like people like you". Admitedly it could have been handled better by us and we felt bad asking you to leave early but we were both exhausted. The reasons why everything happened the way it did are too long to get into here.

I had a great stay with Conor and Meri. They're welcoming hosts, and the location at the foot of the Ring of Gullion is spectacular and can be hiked up reasonably easily. I will say that the work was physically demanding and I was quite sore initially but they were very upfront about this beforehand. We completed the hempcrete walls which was but I expect that future volunteers will likely have lighter work now that has been completed. Overall, a rewarding experience.

Thanks again for all your hard work, Scott. I know it wasn't easy but what we achieved under pressure was amazing and we really appreciate it. Best of luck with everything and enjoy the rest of your trip in Europe!

I stayed 17 days at a hempcrete project near Slieve the project. Beautiful location with great hiking. Work included gardening and hempcrete tasks; hours were respected. I enjoyed the other volunteers, and meals were good. I stayed in a tent in a polytunnel. Note: no running water inside the mobile home during my stay (not listed when I applied), only an outdoor tap. At times communication felt tense, and there were moments where interactions among the hosts may feel uncomfortable for some volunteers.

We have now amended our profile to say there is no running water inside the mobile. As you can appreciate, Drew, it was a very busy time for us when you were here as we were hosting 3 volunteers (we normally only host 1) so we were tired during those weeks, working 12 hours a day on construction plus cooking meals for 5 people. We asked you a few times if all was ok and you insisted all was good so your review feels a bit harsh.

My experience with Meri and Connor was absolutely amazing!! They opened the doors of their home with such love for me to feel welcome and comfortable at all times. The project itself is absolutely unique and special, the tasks are fair with tea and lunch breaks in between so its really enjoyable. At the end is just really fullfeeling being able to help them with their life project while learning so much about sustainability, permaculture, natural building and life. Plus Connors food is incredible, the natural sourranders are outstanding and the quietness of the place is very recharging😍

I had a wonderful time at the location! It’s a nice stay away from the big city. It is truly a place of outstanding natural beauty. Great hikes and walks in the area if you’re looking for that. The host and his partner were very sweet and accommodating, and great getting to know. The hours were good and usually ranged from 5-6 hours a day. Break days are nice and was provided with transport to the local city of Dundalk to take a train to Belfast for a day. The work is good, lot of labor and farm related activities. There is little adjusting to the more rural environment, but lovely experience
