Program Details

First of all we offer you a small cabin with two bedrooms, which you can share with your partner or another volunteer, the solidly built cabin also has hot water and an open kitchen. We want to transform our tourist center into something more sustainable, in line with current changes in environmental conservation. We want to apply a new concept that has a direct relation to permaculture. We are sure there are many volunteers who have ideas, visions and objectives they wish to apply here on our 10,000-square-meter site, with a pool (note the pool does not function year-round), 6 cabins and an event center, and an orchard, a water treatment plant and a photovoltaic plant; you can pursue and apply your objectives in relation to the environment. In our spaces and in daily life, we do not differentiate social hierarchies; we make social contact an opportunity and a cultural exchange by actively participating in the activities and enjoying together at the table whether at breakfast, lunch or dinner exchanging ideas and aiming at learning Spanish, and if you speak English, exchanging these languages in a natural and simple way. We invite you to be part of our project and of your own."

Activities & Shift

General activities include conservation and maintenance of the gardens, irrigation, assistance with guest services, housekeeping in the cabins, washing sheets, cleaning and maintenance of the pool. We do not have shifts, but you should plan for at least about 4 hours in the morning and another 4 in the afternoons, or as agreed. As part of learning the reservation process for accommodations, the volunteer receives an additional 5,000 Chilean pesos for each reservation they personally make by phone (due to needing to answer the phone and handle guest check-ins and check-outs).

Rules

Responsibility, respect for nature, an intrinsic desire to learn and perform the activities to perfection, keeping tools in order and clean. Smoking is not allowed inside the accommodations, nor illegal substances inside the premises. Keep the center free of all kinds of elements that could contaminate it — papers, plastics, cigarette butts, etc. It is important and required to keep your cabins daily clean and tidy, as well as the dining area, kitchen and bathroom.
