Truly an unforgettable and fulfilling experience! Leaving someone was never this hard, despite being there for only 2 weeks. But the tears that I cried only showed how much love and gratitude I was surrounded with.
I felt welcomed from the very first day, both by the hosts (especially Nilu) and by the children. I would personally have appreciated more guidance when it came to teaching, for example through textbook topics or pictures. There are 4 classes for which you have to prepare in advance, and I recommend bringing some interactive materials, like picture cards and a bunch of stickers :)

It was a really lovely experience. The first few days it was difficult to settle in, but after that I felt really good – well looked after and comfortable. We worked with the children in the mornings and had the whole afternoon to ourselves. The children are adorable. Just one piece of advice: you need to be prepared to improvise and have a few tricks up your sleeve, because we usually had a different group every day; the ages and levels of English therefore varied, and at the start of each lesson we had to do da quick assessment to see what we could teach and how much depth we could go into.

I had a great time volunteering at a nearby school in the village. Everyone was welcoming and working with the children was a really good experience. English is not their first language so it would be great to carry some nice picture cards to assist with the teaching if possible. we were well taken of at the house. We only volunteered for a few hours in the morning and had the remainder of the day to explore. It was really great, i loved it.

Had a wonderful time at serenity lanka! Nilu took amazing care of us and helped us feel right at home
They work with a few different schools and different age groups - which was perfect for us :) we got to tour a few different volunteering options until we found the perfect one for us
When we had the idea to paint a mural on one of the schools walls Himalka was super supportive and helped us bring the dream to life
All in all an amazing experience:)

I had a great time volunteering right outside Kandy. In the program, you are able to choose between different schools/institutions to volutneer at ranging all the way from day care/preschool to secondary school. We even had the opportunity to teach at a monastery. Tasks and curriculum aren't very strictly set, so it is up to you as a volunteer to come up with apt syllabus and activities a lot of the time. The homestay was great, and Auntie truly made me feel like home. Food was amazing, and I really want to go back when I have the chance!

I had a fantastic first volunteering experience! During the first 2 days, we visited different schools to see what suited me best. I chose to work with younger children, where we helpen prepare and teach different lessons in simple English. You need to be creative and flexible in the way you approach this. Connecting with the children came easily!

You stay in a large house where the aunties take great care of you. Besides making you feel warmly at home, the meals are amazing. Kandy is nearby and easy to reach with the bus or tuk-tuk. There is plenty to do in the area but you can also relax.

Amazing experience! I planned for 2 weeks and ended up extending an extra week.
The home stay is a home away from home and all the staff are so welcoming and kind and always went out their way to help if you needed advice on things. The meals were delicious.

I did pre school, and the children were amazing, hands on experience, doing arts and crafts, singing, dancing and learning basic English skills.

All transport to and from school is arranged for you.

Would highly recommend to anyone :)

This volunteering experience was amazing! I worked at both a pre-school and primary school in the special education unit - the experience was hands-on and the teachers and children were all very welcoming. The accommodation is fabulous, and Aunty takes such great care you, and she is the best cook!!! Imalka, the programme coordinator, is so lovely and very helpful. The surrounding area is also really nice for walks and it is accessible to Kandy, so there is lots to do when you're not volunteering. I would recommend this experience to anyone considering it and would love to come back.

Just sign up :) Our two weeks were unforgettable. We were looking for a genuine volunteer project that would offer the opportunity to connect meaningfully and have a positive impact - it ticks all the boxes. Our time was mainly spent between working at an orphanage (playing, feeding, nurturing the babies and lots of games, singing and dancing with the older children… leaving was emotional!) but also teaching English at a Monastery. Just to top it all off the accommodation is beautiful, almost as beautiful as Auntie’s cooking!!!
This project is just at its beginning and 100% deserves support!
