My first volunteering experience, and it was amazing! I couldn't be more grateful to the Hostel 20 team. Yann, Charlotte, Maël and Alexandre were incredibly kind and welcoming. Working in different areas and learning new things every day was a great experience. Practising French daily also helped me improve a lot. The working hours were respected and the tasks were easy to learn. Special thanks to Marcia and Samuel for their positive energy, kindness and all the love. I'm leaving with beautiful memories. Thank you so much guys ! ❤️

Yann, Maelle, Charlotte, Jeanine and Sam are the fabulous and kind team here! They will make you feel welcomed and a part of the family immediately. They taught me so many skills and really were so patient as I was beginning with my French. I really recommend this for those who want to fully immerse in the vibrant culture of Bretagne with some really cool people!!!

I had a great time here, the work was good, not too hard, and Yann was a good, chill boss. All the volunteers and the full-time workers were easy to get along with and were lovely. The environment of the hostel is chill and social, had some great long conversations and made some good friends.

It was an incredible experience. The other volunteers made me feel right at home from the very first day, the chores are easy, and the hostel staff is amazing.

People are the best part of this experience! Thanks to Maël, Sam, Charlotte, and Yann for making the days more fun. The tasks are mainly cleaning and helping during dinner. The schedule is respected, and they are clear about what you need to do. I'm giving it 4 stars because, honestly, the volunteer room could use some improvement. The shower has some issues, and there are no lockers to store your belongings. The guest kitchen could also be improved quite a bit; it feels old, and many times there aren't enough utensils to cook with. Thank you for everything, and good luck!!

I had a great experience volunteering at Hostel Rennes. I made lots of friends because the staff and the other volunteers are very friendly! The working hours are fair, and Yan and Jeanine were very flexible and understanding about my birthday and the days off I asked for, which was a big plus.
The only downside for me was the volunteers’ room, which has a problem with the shower, and the facilities can feel quite small when all four volunteers are there at the same time.
Despite that, I truly recommend the experience, especially if you want to improve your French!

This is a long standing hostel bought by investors who are squeezing every cent they can from it. They're very stingy all around. Expect a purely transactional exchange, and honestly not really a fair one.

You'll do the same work and hours as a paid part-time worker but without pay, and they'll cram you with 2-3 more people in a room for 2, and won't even give you a proper filling meal (the portion sizes are insultingly small). The kitchen is very uncared for and plain bad. Oh, and if you finish work early they'll just give you more tasks.

I say don't come here, let them pay someone a wage.

Come for the volunteer and stay for the people. The hostel team does a great job of integrating the volunteers into the dynamic and the city. You get what you agreed on; everything is respected, talked about, and fair, with two attention points: one is the schedule; they change constantly, sometimes with late notice, so be prepared to do some self-management on time. The second is accommodation, the volunteer dorm is overlooked and requires fixing up ourselves. Overall it was a great experience; Rennes is a beautiful town, and I definitely recommend!

It was my first volunteer experience, and I had high expectations, choosing to ignore the negative comments from previous volunteers and online and big mistake. On the first day, I felt under a lot of pressure, especially since I was still learning.I tried to motivate myself and improved over the next few daysI even finished before the four-hour mark, but it was as if something was working against me: poor communication and inadequate facilities. He fired me before the agreed-upon dates under the pretext that I wasn't doing my job well, which is a lie.I don't recommend the place no is a 'hostel

My experience was special mainly because of the people. Yann is a very present director, always helping volunteers, talking with everyone, creating connections and listening to opinions. Jeannine was one of the best people I met in France, a true mother figure during my stay. The tasks are simple and organized. The volunteer room is still not the best part of the hostel, but the place is going through renovations and constant improvements, getting better over time.
