Program Details

We welcome volunteers with an open mind, a willingness to learn, and a genuine desire to contribute to conservation and community life. You don’t need previous experience—what matters most is being responsible, curious, proactive, and respectful of nature and local culture.

K’erenda Homet is a small family-run Private Conservation Area located in Tambopata, Puerto Maldonado, in the Peruvian Amazon. For nearly 40 years, our family has been restoring and protecting this forest. Today, my father and I take care of the entire 40-hectare conservation area, so every volunteer becomes an important part of our small team.

Your support may include helping with daily tasks around the conservation area, maintaining trails and shared spaces, welcoming visitors, assisting with the development of our new Interpretive Center, creating communication content, or participating in environmental activities. We also work with the local university on biological monitoring, and volunteers are welcome to take part in these activities.

What we value most is initiative. We love welcoming people who enjoy creating, sharing ideas, and bringing projects to life. We currently have several projects we’d love to develop, including a hummingbird garden and new visitor experiences. Since only my father and I manage the conservation area, every helping hand, fresh idea, and new perspective truly makes a difference.

In return, we offer an authentic experience in the Peruvian Amazon, surrounded by wildlife and immersed in the daily life of a family dedicated to conservation. You’ll stay in shared accommodation, receive guidance throughout your stay, and have the opportunity to learn about forest restoration, biodiversity, ecotourism, and conservation.

We believe the best volunteer experiences are built on mutual learning, trust, and collaboration. We hope your time at K’erenda Homet leaves you with unforgettable memories, new skills, and a deeper connection with the Amazon rainforest.

Welcome to K’erenda Homet! 💚
