Plant Trees & Teach Children About Climate Change in Uganda
The experience
Restore Nature Uganda is a community-based environmental project in Jinja, Uganda, focused on protecting nature, planting trees, and educating children and communities about climate change and environmental conservation.
As a volunteer, you can take part in tree-planting activities, environmental education in schools and communities, community outreach, gardening and other practical activities that support our sustainability goals.
What you offer

Program Description
Restore Nature Uganda is a community-based environmental and educational project in Jinja, Uganda. Our mission is to restore and protect the environment through tree planting, climate-change education, and community activities.
Volunteers become part of our local team and help with practical environmental work while learning about Ugandan culture and community life. Depending on the project schedule, volunteers may work with schools, communities, gardens, and tree-planting activities.
We welcome people who are interested in sustainability, environmental conservation, education, community development, or simply want to contribute their time and skills to a meaningful local project. Volunteers are encouraged to share their own ideas, skills, and experiences with us.
Activities & Shift
Activities & Shifts
Volunteers can participate in a variety of activities, depending on the season and current project needs:

* 🌳 Environmental conservation and restoration activities
* 📚 Helping with climate-change and environmental education
* 👧 Supporting educational activities with children in schools and communities
* 🌿 Gardening and maintaining green spaces
* 🧹 Community clean-up and environmental awareness activities
* 📸 Helping document project activities and share environmental messages
* 💡 Contributing creative ideas, skills, or educational activities
Typical schedule: Volunteers usually participate for around 4–5 hours per day, 5 days a week, with time available for rest, exploring Jinja, and experiencing local culture.
Schedules can vary according to weather, school activities, community events, and the needs of the project. We discuss the daily activities with volunteers so everyone understands what is expected.

To make the experience safe, respectful, and enjoyable for everyone, we ask volunteers to follow these guidelines:
* Treat everyone with respect, kindness, and understanding.
* Be punctual and committed to the agreed volunteer schedule.
* Take good care of the accommodation, project equipment, and shared spaces.
* Keep your room and common areas clean and tidy.
* Follow safety instructions when working outdoors, planting trees, or participating in community activities.
* Respect local culture, traditions, and communities, and schools.
* Ask permission before taking or sharing photos of children or community members.
* No illegal drugs or unsafe behavior.
* Smoking is only permitted in designated outdoor areas.
* Keep noise at a reasonable level, especially at night.
* Communicate openly with the host if you have any questions, concerns, or changes to your schedule.
* Volunteers are expected to participate actively and responsibly in the activities they agree to do.
Our goal is to create a friendly environment where volunteers, local communities, and the Restore Nature Uganda team can learn from one another and work together respectfully.
