I really enjoyed my time at the hotel Helping with breakfast was a great experience, and everyone was so welcoming and friendly. I had a lot of fun working with the team, and working with Tala was always a pleasure. We had some really good conversations ! The lagoon is absolutely beautiful, and the place has a lovely atmosphere. I would definitely recommend staying here ! The only downside was the Wi-Fi, which wasn't very strong in the rooms. However, there is a workspace near the reception.

My experience at the hotel was truly amazing and unforgettable. I met wonderful people who helped me practice my Spanish while also teaching me the importance of respecting others, appreciating nature, and helping one another. The whole team was incredibly welcoming and always willing to help and listen to my needs. I'm truly grateful for the quality time I spent with them and for everything I learned along the way. I highly recommend the hotel to anyone looking for an authentic cultural experience and the chance to connect with amazing people.

I stayed one week at Boa Boa. It was so great and I'm so thankful to had that opportunity. Carmen and everyone else were so kind and she helped me every time when I had a question. I can't speak Spanish, but you can improve really good and it was no problem to only speak English. The room is not luxury, but you have everything what you need. Bath and shower is outside and there is a kitchen you can use whenever you want. I could use a laundry next to the hotel in the afternoon. The walk in the city is half an hour which I walked every day. Otherwise rent a bike for a few days. Thanks!

Bacalar is a stunning place and Boa Boa definitely brings out the best of it🌴The staff is adorable, and the accommodation very nice!! In my case i faced a few organizational hiccups, which did cause a bit of stress. The skills I have and their current needs just didn’t match in the end, so I felt like my presence was a bit inconvenient. But they were very comprehensive of my discomfort, and for the last few days I was able to do the job I came to do, I’m grateful for the efforts made to host me despite the bad timing. I do think Boa Boa has everything it takes for a perfect volunteer stay🤍

Several aspects of the listing were not accurate. When multiple different items were addressed with management, promises were made to correct with absolutely no follow up. Mgmt doesnt care about volunteer or employee experience. Luis lives in another city and has no idea what is going on with day to day. Having over a decade experience in hospitality, I saw immediately several concerns that Ive seen before from other directors in hospitality mgmt that indicate a lack of concern for the day to day workers. Not enough characters to fully list all failed expectations from thw WP listing.

Brian you had a poor attitude all the way through…
All our volunteers are happy , and flexible. You were just rigid and stressed by yourself …
I gave you alternatives . And was responsive .

With may years in hospitality , I know that some people are going through stress on their own and the best way to take it out is with the place and environment .

Will continue to have great reviews and experiences because we are an awesome place with great vibe and the best people

Our experience at the Boa was really nice! The people were welcoming and helpful! They made sure to vary the breakfast! I did the breakfast from 8-12 (simple tasks but a lot of dishes) and my boyfriend did the gardening (simple/ independent job) from 9-13. We lived in a house next to the hotel, which we shared with one of the receptionists (rarely at home). The accommodation was really basic but okay for some weeks. There is only the lagoon and the small city, so if you are looking for nightlife/ lots of activities, this place might be too calm. Overall, we would recommend this experience !!

The experience was spectacular! Anita and Osmar are excellent hosts, always attentive to the volunteers' well-being and comfort. The activities are simple, fun, and enjoyable; mainly helping with breakfasts. Also, Dafne's food is spectacular!
The best part is having Laguna de los Siete Colores right there, an incredible place to enjoy, relax, and connect with nature. ✨
I highly recommend this experience 100%! If you have the opportunity to come, don't hesitate.

The place is amazing! A paradise in Mexico, and the facilities are really, really good, we had a double bed in the volunteers' room, kayaks to use, and discounts at the bar The food they gave us was delicious, and it was varied, moreover with what remained from breakfast we could eat more times throughout the day The schedule was respected and many times we did less than the hours we had to do because we finished our work on time, also they were flexible with the schedule The team was very kind and it was a great experience, I am very grateful to the Boa Boa family🙏🏻❤️

A very charming hotel (one of the prettiest on the lagoon) where it's very pleasant to settle in to meet the team, who are very friendly. The place is spectacular and the hotel has sun loungers, a pool, private access to the lagoon, and kayaks useful for reaching the Pirates Canal and cenotes. As for the work, we often finish in 3 hours! It's about preparing breakfast that we bring to guests in small baskets. It's easy and not a hassle. The dorm is not great, especially the shower, but there is air conditioning and the bedding is comfortable. New: there's a fridge!
