Eugene Hostel

We love supporting travelers from all over the world! A home for Artists, our hostel is filled to the brim with the art, music, and talents of years of work traders from every country imaginable. Located in the heart of the Whiteaker neighborhood, you are minutes away from the river, shopping, bars, restaurants, hiking, rock climbing, yoga and more! We have a Broadway theatre and endless cultural activities just a short bike ride away in downtown. We have bikes for our traders, and ensure 3-4 days off per week so you can truly get out and explore the skiing, climbing, hiking, beach, and city life all within 1 hour of Eugene.

Team board games, picnics, ski trips, camping, movie nights, and more!

You're traveling to experience, and Brenna (our owner, still in her 20s) gets that. Come stay with our family in our cozy little home!

We don't believe in sandwiching in traders and working you to the bone. Our hostel common areas are closed to guests every night to allow work traders space and time to themselves. We are working on plans to build yurts, icosa huts, RVs, and more in our backyard space to give every more flexibility to traders. We have a community garden you can tend and pick if you so chose, and we have yet to fail in honoring a request for time off. If you are sick, we are happy to put you up in our icosa hut for you to get better. You don't have to worry about being kicked out or left behind around here if you get sick or have an emergency come up. We ask for hard work, passion, and a willingness to create (systems, artwork, you name it!), and you'll find us here giving the same.

One of the best experiences of my life! All the people were so incredibly sweet and I’m going to miss everyone so much! Work was 3 days x 8 hours, easy and you could always ask for help if you needed it! Poor Jimbo left but you can still see Whopper! A huge thank you to the staff and managers for making this an awesome trip!❤️ YUMMY

Management will blame you for their mistakes. Key, Claire, and Brenna are the hosts and they fail to recognize that they are accountable for the environment they create. Immediately after arriving, i was insulted for their entertainment which set the vibe for the rest of the volunteers.. pretty much telling me I am not valued, and that it is okay for other people to be rude, demanding, disrespectful, etc. They showed a lot of bias toward men. Many days went by where the only things that were said to me were crass insults. Their profile has false information as well. Don’t go here.

Hi Izzy,

We are heartbroken reading your review. As a hostel that prides itself on its support of travelers and artists like yourself, your words cut deeply and we are listening carefully.

We cannot help but be frustrated at many aspects of your vague and confusing feedback. I am fascinated that any interaction we have had with you could be construed as you being "insulted for entertainment". I expressed to you how much you and your work was valued multiple times, so to say we were "pretty much telling you you're not valued" is bewildering.

More than anything, I wish you would have come to Key and I with your problems at the hostel while they were happening. We would have immediately taken steps to make you more comfortable, as anyone who has ever actually talked to us about an issue they've had can tell you.

I hope you find the place you feel safe to express yourself.

Absolutely loved my stay here, the hostel was the cutest and the people were great. Claire, Key and Brenna were all super welcoming and easygoing, and most of the work shifts were pretty laid back and enjoyable. I could definitely see myself going back, 10/10 recommend.

Absolutely amazing experience. Key and Claire, the managers, make sure to curate the vibe in the hostel to make it a great place to be. It is what work trading is all about, a fair exchange. Met only great people. Also, the city of Eugene is very cool. 5 stars.

Eugene hostel was a great place to stay as a volunteer! I was welcomed in the team immediately and that was pretty AWSOME! The managers Key and Claire are the best and most honest and greatest people on this planet. And the owner is really nice too! We went skiing for a staff day, hours are great and there was not a lot of work! And having the available breakfast in the morning helped a lot in the costs!
Eugene is not that AWSOME but worth a visit for sure.
