🌿 Long-Term Stay Opportunity – Gold Coast Hinterland (Bonogin)

We’re looking for friendly, respectful people to join our home long-term (ideally 3+ months, minimum 1 month).

This is not your typical Workaway — it’s better suited to people who want to settle in, take ownership, and be part of a small team, rather than just pass through (although travellers are still welcome to apply).

⸻

🏡 The Opportunity

You’ll be staying on a large, peaceful 7+ acre property in Bonogin, surrounded by nature, with a private lake, waterfall, and plenty of space to enjoy.

We’re building a small team of ~5 people total, creating a calm, respectful and high-quality living environment.

⸻

🛠️ How the Work Works

We ask for ~20 hours per week, but for longer stays this becomes more flexible:
• You’ll typically take ownership of a specific area or responsibility (rather than fixed daily hours)
• There will occasionally be group tasks with set times (e.g. deep cleans, gardening days)

When applying, please tell us your preference:
• 🌱 GARDENING
• 🧼 CLEANING
• 🔧 (Optional) HANDYMAN / DIY skills

⸻

👀 Who This Is Perfect For

We’re looking for people who are:
• Clean, respectful, and easy to live with
• Comfortable sharing space with others
• Self-motivated and proactive
• Interested in a longer-term, stable setup

This suits people who want:
• A calm base while working remotely or planning next steps
• Time in nature
• A more intentional living environment (not a party house)

⸻

🌍 What You Get

Stay in a large, peaceful home in nature with access to:
• Pool, lake + waterfall
• Cinema room (when available)
• 7+ acres to explore
• Vehicle access at times (if licensed)
• Fast WiFi
• A great living environment with like-minded people

Food is generally self-managed, but we’re open to shared cooking and helping with ingredients.

⸻

🛏️ Accommodation
• Shared downstairs space (bunk setup)
• Shared ensuite + kitchenette
• Access to main kitchen (when available)
• Comfortable, spacious setup

⸻

📍 Location
• 25 mins to the beach
• 30 mins to the airport
• 10–15 mins to shops & essentials
• 35 mins to waterfalls / 10 mins to rock pools
• 1 hour to Byron Bay or Brisbane

Note: A car or licence is highly recommended (limited public transport)

⸻

🌱 Learning & Experience
• Gardening & property maintenance
• Living in a large-scale property environment
• Cultural exchange & languages
• Optional exposure to business, systems, and remote work

⸻

🙌 Final Notes

We’re looking for people who want to settle in and contribute, not just pass through.

If this sounds like you, please include:
• Your preferred role (gardening or cleaning)
• Your availability & intended length of stay
• Any relevant experience

⸻

🌟 Why choose this stay?

You’ll be staying on a peaceful 7-acre hinterland property with a private lake, surrounded by nature — while still being close to everything the Gold Coast offers.

This is ideal for travellers who enjoy:
• Being outdoors
• A calm, structured environment
• Contributing to something tangible

Your help directly supports the day-to-day flow of a large, high-quality home — keeping spaces clean, welcoming, and well maintained.

In return, you get:
• A comfortable place to live
• A relaxed, consistent rhythm
• The experience of life on a spacious Australian property

This suits people who are practical, respectful, and enjoy seeing the immediate results of their work.

👋 About Me

I live onsite and work from home, so I’m around, available, and hands-on with the property.

I’m organised, clear in communication, and respectful of people’s time and effort.

Volunteers are treated as trusted adults — with:
• Clear expectations
• Flexibility where possible
• Genuine appreciation for what you contribute

⸻

🏠 Living Setup

You’ll be staying downstairs in a shared, comfortable space:
• 2 single beds + 2 double bunks
• Shared bathroom
• Large laundry
• Shared living area (set up within the garage space)

The environment is calm, friendly, and grounded.

⸻

⚠️ Important

This is not a party environment.

It’s best suited to independent travellers who:
• Enjoy structure
• Respect shared spaces
• Take pride in what they do
• Communicate openly

It was a perfect first volunteer experience. The property is lovely and you can use all facilities if there aren't any guests at the moment. The work is flexible and totally manageable. Steven is really friendly, appreciates everyones work and always happy to help or answer any questions. I enjoyed my stay there a lot.

This was literally THE best experience!!! Steve is amazing and welcoming and very kind :) all the work was communicated beforehand, it was very flexible and everyone is trusted to do what they need to do. The place is beautiful and a true oasis of calm with all kinds of wildlife hopping around :) what a great way to spend a few months, getting to know the family and other travellers with which I had the best time!!!

If you are looking for nature, calm and relax place, you have to come here ! Steven and Nina are absolutely great, amazing and very kind ; always making sure everything is ok, working hours, living space and just life in general:)
I have been helping with the cleaning for the -big- Airbnb house but also child minding from time to time (they have 2 kids, very energetic and cute) and lots of gardening as well !
There is not much to do around so if you want to go to the city, better have a driving licence -you can use Steven's car- or kindly ask if they can drive you somewhere ;)
Lovely time !
