Alloggio il Giglio

I believe that every experience is unique, and with each guest and/or volunteer I have hosted at home, there was always a way to get to know and interact with them, understanding each other's experiences and cultures.

I am a lover of the rules, few ones, no drama, but to make things clear! I also like to organize parties. I ask the volunteers to look good, have punctuality, a spirit of initiative, and respect for the rules and for people. I appreciate cordial language and attitude. I love to talk with guests and volunteers, I often teach them the things I think I am proficient in, like Italian cuisine, taking care of the synergistic vegetable garden, and gardening in general.

I am a financial consultant with a passion for hospitality and I simply ask for help to manage my small accommodation in the best possible way, I try to do my best so that the guests, and the volunteers, always feel at home. I don't ask volunteers to be skilled at the tasks, but I need them to have the predisposition to learn how to do the things that are needed here.

Worldpacker rooms are located in the basement, with access to the back garden. It can happen to share the room with other guys, the rooms are mixed and are maximum 3 people. Sometimes I prepare some dishes for the boys, but without obligation because I am away from home many hours for work and I do not always come back early.

I strongly suggest this place for those who love wondering in nature. Plenty opportunities nearby. It was great to practice a bit of Italian here too, but it's nice that we could talk in English, because it was easier to discuss my tasks (and other things). Although, our deal didn't include meals, I got invited to eat with them several times :) So I ate lots of delicious Italian food!

Gio is a very kind host, always making sure that we were okay and making time for us (we even had a pizza party!) even tho she was super busy.
The work is easy and can be done in a couple hours, sometimes more, depending on the tasks for the day. The kitchen has everything needed to cook, bathrooms are clean and working well, we had privacy and freedom since there's no fixed time to get things done.
Schio is a relatively small town. From the house is about 30 min walk to downtown. There's a supermarket 5min away, a climbing gym 10min, lots of mountains, hikes, rivers, and cute towns around.

It was a great experience staying at the guest house Gigliola. Even though she was very busy with work, whenever she had free time, she made sure to dedicate it to the volunteers, which was really nice. Francesca and Luca were also always very kind and welcoming. Schio is a small, beautiful town, and on your days off, you can visit Venice, Verona, Lake Garda, and other cities. I recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful place.

My experience at Gio's house was wonderful, the tasks were super easy and we completed them in half the time described, and whenever there were too many tasks we could call someone who works there full-time to help us. Gio is a very kind and flexible person with schedules and is willing to help you if necessary. I loved the region and Gio took me to explore local parties that were happening, it was a lot of fun and the volunteers who were with me were very friendly
I highly recommend this accommodation as your first volunteering experience🤍🤍

My experience at the guest house was wonderful! It's a pity it passed so quickly. During my stay at the guest house, I had the opportunity to practice Italian, visit Schio and other nearby towns, as well as form great friendships. The guest house is a host that is very attentive and welcoming. Household chores are simple, agreed in advance, the times are respected, and all the necessary materials for carrying them out are provided. It has been an experience rich in exchanges, learning and coexistence. I am very grateful for this opportunity 💛
