Angela Tona

I'm looking for people who appreciate the warmth of family; my home is in a strategic location to visit Agrigento with the Valley of the Temples. Sicily offers a lot: the sea, the hills, the mountains. Lots of good food and lots of warmth from the people.

Volunteers will stay with me, and my family will have their own room. I am a very available and loving person; I don't like people taking advantage of my kindness, in that case my attitude changes.
We like to be in good company, cooking and collaborating; we have our own house in the city and the one we are renovating in the countryside, so we come and go depending on the work needed.

It was a nice stay with the home and the family. A real Sicilian life experience. Though those days were torching hot, in the house was still bearable. They had a private swimming pool which also helps! Working hours are very good, tasks varying depending on the needs. Communication relies a bit on translation app. But if we could have learned more Italian it would be nicer! Location is a bit remote. But if you like countryside life while sometimes travelling around it is a good choice. They are very good and kind people 💓I would recommend.

One of the best volunteering experiences I've ever had; from the very first moment I felt very welcomed and well received, this experience has helped me a lot to learn about the local culture and to learn a new language. The experience has been unbeatable, and thanks to the hosts I will keep Italy and Agrigento in a very special place in my heart. If you have the opportunity to do this volunteering, don't hesitate ☺️

I appreciate that the home provided us 3 meals a day and I was lucky to get my own bedroom. The work was really light and random as the olive season was over before arrival, I basically did some chores and help for cleaning the yard. If you wanna pick olives I suggest to come before November. The house is located among the hills with spectacular view of the Sicilian countryside and a bit of the sea. If you like a quiet life this is the place for you. We also got to live with visiting family members who are very friendly. Ricardo actually speaks decent English. Also prepare some warm clothes :)

My first experience as a volunteer, frankly I liked it a lot. The house was always very generous with me, not only did it open the doors to its house, but also to its family. Ricardo, a bit more reserved, was always respectful and was willing to answer my questions. This experience allowed me to learn something very important: each situation can be positive or negative, depending on the attitude one has and the willingness to learn. Thanks to the house and Ricardo for everything!

Our experience was ambiguous, as at first we couldn't understand each other well with the house since we didn't know Italian, but as time passed we understood each other more and learned a little Italian. The tasks were simple and the hours were respected. The days of olive harvesting were long and hard but gratifying. We shared many meals and tasted the gastronomy of Sicily. Thanks for the experience. It's recommended to know some Italian to communicate better.
