At Animal Wellness Trust (AWT), we are a dedicated team of animal lovers, veterinary professionals, animal caregivers and volunteers working together to improve the lives of rescued and street animals in Sri Lanka.
Our team comes from different backgrounds, but we share one common goal: providing care, compassion and a better quality of life for animals in need. We have a friendly, welcoming and supportive working environment where everyone is encouraged to contribute, learn and share their ideas.
We believe in treating our volunteers as part of our AWT family, not simply as visitors. You can expect to be welcomed with kindness, respect and patience. Our staff and coordinators will guide you through your activities, help you settle in and make sure you feel comfortable throughout your stay.
We understand that travelling to a new country and working in an unfamiliar environment can be challenging, so we encourage open communication. Whether you need assistance, have questions or simply want to share an idea, our team will always be happy to help.

This was a great experience, everyone here is really nice and welcoming ! Working with the dogs and cats is a dream and the facilities are nice ! I really had the impression to do something important and help them ! We really take part in the everyday life of the shelter If i can come back I will !

Loved my time here. The dogs are so cute and friendly. The daily tasks are easy to do. Lots of time to spend with dogs and free. Time coordinator is lovely. He really loves. The dogs. Will definitely be coming back. Felt like a second home.

It was a very beautiful experience, especially because one realized that as a volunteer you have a real impact. Also the dogs and cats were adorable and very happy. When I had questions, I received direct and reliable answers and one always felt well taken care of. It was also a good opportunity to meet other volunteers, which contributed to a friendly atmosphere.

I've had an amazing experience at the Animal Wellness Trust. They truly care about their cause so much and are really involved in the wellbeing of their cats & dogs as well as the ones still living on the streets. The tasks were simple and the hours very reasonable. I fell in love with one of their dogs and had such a hard time leaving. I will for sure be back! A big thanks to Nuwan, Hector, and all the other staff members who make this such an amazing place. I really appreciate it!

I'm super happy with this place. It has been a very enriching experience, as well as fun. The place is beautiful, although you have to work the agreed hours, it's not hard at all; the dogs are adorable and the whole staff is super friendly. I recommend it 100%.
