ARACY Hostel

A quiet and very well located place, close to the Historic Center. Few rooms and a family atmosphere, music, gastronomy. Great opportunity for exchanges of experiences, new friendships, teachings and mutual learning. Lush nature, beaches, waterfalls and trails throughout the region.

I am a musician and an entrepreneur.
I enjoy cooking, talking, learning and teaching. You will feel at home.
The shifts are calm and the schedules alternate.

Paulo, the owner and Andrés, a permanent resident volunteer, were my family for a month. Grateful to have been able to share and work in the hostel. A quiet place, with few guests during my stay, so there wasn't much work. The schedules, day off and the described work were respected. Breakfast was included, the same as the one served to guests. And I was so comfortable that I extended my stay. The inn is next to the historic center and very close to the bus terminal. Thank you very much for everything!!!

I was warmly welcomed, but I believe some points could be improved. I sensed some differences between what is offered and what happens in practice, especially with regard to the ride sharing, the laundry, and the volunteers' work dynamics. The infrastructure also needs more attention, especially regarding cleanliness and leaks on rainy days. I hope these points can be addressed to provide a better experience for future volunteers.

The hostel is a quiet place, crossed by music. It has a good location near the historic center. My stay was with Andres who remained in charge mainly since Paulo was traveling, It was a loving and peaceful coexistence. It felt like being with family. We shared laughs, meals, and outings. In the pousada, cigarettes and tobacco are smoked inside. If you are sensitive, that could be something to consider.

My experience was very good! I made incredible connections, especially with the volunteers who were at the guesthouse during the period I stayed there. They are certainly people I want to take with me for life and I hope to be able to meet them again in the future.

Andrés, who supervised the tasks and organized the schedules, was always very polite and respectful. Certainly, he made all the difference in the stay, especially with his music and food.

Undoubtedly, it was well worth doing this volunteer work, especially for the people I met and the connections I made during this period.

My first volunteering experience in Brazil, and I couldn't have had a better one. I was able to practice my Portuguese a lot, learn more about Brazilian culture, and discover a Brazil that you only experience by sharing daily life with locals. What I take away the most is the incredible team we formed with my friends from the guesthouse. More than fellow volunteers, we ended up becoming a family. A big thank you to Andrés and Paulo for welcoming me with so much warmth!
